Looks pretty nice for a alpha.

I find it hilarious that people are calling the ~300 USD pricetag to get into alpha (which also includes the game at launch, plus all expansions for free) a scam and greed, but don't bat an eye at Chris Roberts selling a single, solitary make-believe space ship for the same price.

Chris Roberts has spent too much time in hollywood, now he's a peddler of empty hopes and dreams.

The comments in this video where the pilot is using 'Flight Assist Off' are kind of funny - 'zOMG so much skill!'

Considering that the person in question is having to manually correct all rotations and translations, with no help from the game, using partially gimped controls (yaw, according those in the alpha, is really weak compared to pitch and roll), AND keep an eye on, and kill, an opponent, you bet it's skillful.

I wish VO had a mode like that... hmmm

Spacecraft without proper yaw are just stupid. It made sense thirty years ago when skipping yaw entirely simplified the requirements for the interface of the original game. It is obsolete thinking in today's world.

It's also a throwback to the original games and is perfectly justifiable fanservice.

I agree that it's stupid, but it's a perfectly valid choice, and much, MUCH more popular among that community than a newtonian 6dof scheme is (the most common complaint is that it would lead to "jousting"). I'm just glad we get SOME semblance of proper spacecraft behavior.
