Im posting here because Im annnoyed at my mouse, which has just packed in. I have managed to negotiate my way through XP thus far with just the keyboard, but its getting really annoying.

Hmm, using Linux, my mouse has never just spontaneously given up. My suggestion to you: kill Windows, and install Debian Linux.

The circuit board on his mouse might have just fried..

Ok, ok....

"Packed in"? Do you use an archaic ball mouse?

Upgrade! Get an optical mouse. Or did the buttons just get stuck?

I have XP and no mouse probs. Probably something peculiar to your equipment.

Its not XP's fault, it needs a mouse to function and mine's just pegged it.

How long did you have that mouse?
Mar 19, 2004 UncleDave link
Few years.

Well, a cheap reliable mouse isnt too expensive these days...

And I would agree with the upgrade idea, go Optical IR or Wireless IR, those old Ball Mouses are so Win 95! (Pulls off Valley Girl accent)

/me scared himself
/me goes back to listening to Metallica and ACDC

Dave go buy an opticial mouse at a computer store for like 30 bucks. i had to do that when my mouse would get fuzzies on the track ball.

course i did thing that was why i sucked at piloting for a while... now i know the truth: i just suck

another word of advice: do not use wireless, unless you want to encounter "nice kill, my mouse's batteries just died."
Mar 21, 2004 Zeratul link
That happened to me once. :)

agreed, besides if you are like me and have a little brother, then you will lose the mouse and find it 9 weeks later when you decide to clean out his dressers. hence why i just have and optical mouse, and my brother has a pop gun

Oh yeah, and Dave, you have too many ways to say "ceased to function".

Ya think?

More alternatives for UncleDave...
bit the big one
s##t the bed
croaked
spazzed for the last time
ceased to be (not 'function'...thx, John Cleese)
gave up the ghost
crapped out
stopped keeping up
kicked the bucket
is no more (thx again, JC)

That's all I can come up with...BUT,
as long as your mouse will no longer crave cheese...I suggest a trackball. : )

ewwww...trackballs make small children cry! Go with an 8 button optical (non wireless) mouse! With big red buttons too! :D

A trackball?!? For gaming?!?
