Go Maxtor!

Do NOT go Seagate. Even Maxtor is iffy. IBM is right out (they've been bought out bt Hitachi anyway).

Who would you go with, then? Seagate is the best of them, and their drives are nice and quiet...

go.. samsung.. they seem to be doing the most for the least these days

all I care about is that they replace it if it fails.. so, western digital did a good job in my eyes.. plus this was when ide 120 gb hd's were new to the home consumer.. so it probably wasn't the best they could do...

Bah, Maxtor, WD, Hitachi and Samsung are all good.

Seagate stinks.

you know.. we (well, actualy just me) just replaced every single seagate hard drive in 1 of my school's computer labs because over half of them died in under 6 months. We replaced them with western diditals, and 1 week later, 1 has already died.

But... But... 200 GB 7200.7 'cuda...

/me points to SilentPCReview and Tom's Hardware...

Anandtech seems to like Seagates too... PC World likes it, too...

What's a good hard drive, then?

IBM? You mean Samsung, right? aaaahahahahahahahahahah

Higher end seagate's are where it's at. Maxtors are very cost-effective. I've never really liked WD's but I've never had many.
