I can't sleep

Ever since I got back from my Vacation (12 hour difference), I can't get my sleeping habits back... It gets worse and worse (ok, thats exageratted). I wake up at 2PM - 5PM and sleep at 4PM - 6PM, or get some other weird habits like.. take naps at 10pm to 2pm, and sleep again at... well.. I ask my Mom to make sure I don't take any mid day naps and she doesn't wake me up (im 14, turning 15 Augest... hopefully I get my sleeping habits corrected before my B'Day party, Augest 14.).

Right now, its 4:20AM (EST)... I asked my Dad to wake me up 8:30AM (if I sleep..), and hopefully I'll stay awake until at least 10PM.

Anyone have any suggestions? Like any natrual drinks I can drink or foods I should avoid (or eat :P).
I don't like drugs.

I'd suggest ambien, that knocked me out in 30 minutes. What i say prolly isn't accurate because this is how ambien has been treated by the body{
Dose, 10 mg, knocks me out, impossible to walk around 1 minute after taking it, oh and severely confused, oh yah and i mistake irc for grass... In the morning I am still confused.
Then my dosage got cut in half, to 5mg. Still knocks me out, is possible to walk, just need to be talented to do so, then my body adjusts to the medication, like the last 5 over the counter drugs! Right now with my body adjusted, i am taking 10 mg, i get moderate dizziness, light eye irritation, and my mind perceives everything as if it were simple, and light tiredness.
Damn you body! Stop adjusting to my meds!

Hmm..
I'm a cyclic insomniac, meaning that I go for periods with normal sleep (4-6 hours / night) then at times it breaks up and I cant sleep for more than an hour or two each time/night..

At bad bursts I dont even get that, ending me up with hallucinations and the whole nine yards.. Quite unpleasant.



Drugs, I have pretty much the same experience as Lemming there. works for a while and then I have to change.

Food: Cut down on sugar intake, no cola, no fruit, no candy. I usually can sleep if Im full, meaning I tend to eat rye-bread and so on about 30 mins before I head to bed.

Excersise.. usually works if I just get back in and drop into bed at once, cant let my body recover.

Beating head into wall: Doesnt work unfortunately, just makes me grumpy and prone to anger.

Riding it out? Not really, I tend to schelude 5 hour wake , then try to sleep again, hoping it will work.

Yeargh... It's not insomnia, people! His body just hasn't adjusted to the time shift! STOP RECCOMENDING DRUGS!

Im not recommending drugs. I think both Lemming and I have the "real" insomnia problem

Drugs dont work in that case, just go for 36 hours and then go to sleep at 18 or so, that should be enough to kick you into a working sleep pattern if its only jetlag.

Day: Lot's and lot's of sun. Night: dark. Lot's of lighting (or lack of) makes it harder to get back into your normal routine.
