Incorrect Hostility Display

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Because so far it has happened to me twice now. I enter a sector and everyone appears hostile for me. I leave the sector and enter it again. The people who were red before now become green again (which is how they should've been). While they were red I even asked the players in question what their UIT standing was. And they gave me their number, which was within friendly range. What gives?

I know this is a problem for the border patrol sector, where everyone appears hostile, but this has happened to me in other systems also. It took a while for it to sink in, but I noticed it on at least two occasions. I don't remember where the other one was, but the most recent one happened in Sedina B-8. I wish there was a way to reproduce it, but it appears to be totally random. I'm guessing the server is somehow screwy with the IFF code.

EDIT: I JUST remembered... while in the border patrol sector (Deneb C-10), everyone (regardless of UIT standing) appeared hostile to me as usual. EXCEPT one Itani player appeared green and friendly. I have no idea why he stood out from the rest. But apparently the server just randomly decided to make him friendly I guess. More weirdness for you to ponder.

there is nothing random about how the IFF stuff is constructed. this has been through the hoops many times already.

But clearly there's a problem here since it is reporting people hostile when they shouldn't be. It's inconsistent in that the players' status changes when you leave and re-enter the same sector. There is no apparent cause for this. None of the said players are attacking anyone.

Well, I figured it out. It happens when CtC targets warp into the sector with players. Everyone appears hostile. But now that I think about it, this is probably correct behavior so UIT can defend against players who have good standing with your nation but are on the opposite side of the nation you're defending. Makes sense.

PS: Sorry if this was obvious. I haven't done CtC before so this is new to me.
