Combat bots

So it's come to my attention that some people are using bots (pragrammable scripts) to attack stations and people. Now I'm all for using plugins to help you in certain endeavors ,but not when it comes to a program that automatocally engages in pvp altercations .

Bots have plauged every mmo and now they have found there way here. These bots have been progtammed to enter sectors, shoot at turrets , shoot at specific players , dock in stations , an reload and repair.

This also means These bots are capable of buying/selling / manufacturing. Basically automating almost every activity the game has to offer.

This kind of abuse needs to be dealt with immediately before it gets out off hand.

I don't want to call out players publicly ,but if you need names doing this I have quite a few.

Please Guild Software don't let your game be plagued by nonsnse like this

Ok. You have a suspicion that there is a problem, but you don't want to say who did what and when. Without which this whole post is moot.

I think this would probably be better addressed in a Support Ticket, where you can privately give us concrete examples of exactly what you believe is going on (dates and times, as well as people), and we can investigate from there.

For the record:

- People have been using bots in VO since 2002. It's a bit of a give and take, as we change things that make them less effective, and people come up with new ways for them to be more effective, etc. This is not a new thing, or a scary thing.. there is no "fire" here. We'll just look into it again and mitigate as needed.

- Any action that can be done via mouse or keystroke, can be achieved through scripting with an external program. This is just a reality of computers. We can do a certain amount with CAPTCHA requests and the like, but it's impossible to absolutely prevent all automation, all of the time. What's more important is just mitigating the advantages a bit, to keep things in the realm of sanity.

The good news is, unlike a lot of games, Vendetta has compulsory PvP and bots make easy targets. :)

Bokallen Protandis
Broma Zelenk
Crena Koshalis

This are bots (3 out of 4) using Lisa's automated attack plug-in and they belong to TGFT tsreknor. They were attacking Latos I-8 yesterday several times.

TGFT kbireta also uses the same plugin with his own 3-4 bots (I presume Boda encountered kbiretas bots attacking c-12 after he conquered it) can't remember the names atm but Boda probably can.

Just a side mention of TGFT Boanerges (6th on the list) who, after getting killed at the dock of his capship, used VO client force quit to save his trident from destruction in Bractus N-12 yesterday.

And again, instead of acting like an adult and reporting it to the developers via support ticket as requested by incarnate, you instead come here and spit out your bullshit and cheating theories. None of these guys are using "secret bots" that steer, coordinate and automatically fly in their ships. They actually fly all these ships by theirself.

If these are all tsreknor's accounts, then this man is paying 4 full VO subscriptions. This deserves respect and is well deserved. If someone is going to pay 40 bucks per month so he can run 4 VO accounts at the same time (with incredible skill. It is super hard to coordinate this on multiple devices/clients), then it is their good right. No cheating gear is used here.

So don't come here and spill your bullshit. Do that at the RP forums, if you must.

P.S.: One of the "bots killed" you? You must have flown very poorly then ;)

Grammar, ebas, and Der are the bots. They logged in about 2 seconds from eachother on 8/22/15 at 17:54:53. The player who I suspect was using the bots was Mahayana or boanerges.

@Sieger.

Inc asked who and when... I replied.

wahooo another place for SKV to publicly cry about TGFT!

The hypocrisy in Boda's and Bojan's complaints is so rich, I'm not sure even Trump could afford it.

What's OK with SKV:

-Using f2p accounts to camp bots undetectably inside of inpenetrable asteroids for monitoring purposes.
-Using multiple f2p accounts on single platforms to assert influence
-Using external IRC relays to coordinate communication between allies inside of game

What's not OK with SKV:

-using multiple paid accounts to attack stations
-using a plugin to turbo and fire a weapon

/me scratches head

-using a "non existing" plugin to turbo and fire a weapon

Errm, no, it doesn't. Anyway, like I suggested before, taking +shoot and +turbo and any other method of movement/flight control away from Lua would at least make these accusations less. And if someone is going to use third party methods to control ships, well there really isn't much the devs can do about that.

Screwing up plugins wouldn't stop this sort of thing at all. Especially not for someone who's dedicated enough to multibox the game.

/alias bomber "+turbo; wait 5; RadarNextNearestEnemy; +shoot1; +shoot2"

There's also a ton of really cool game controllers out there that let you program macros and stuff.

I did? Really? Because it looks like I said:

I was trying to get the necessary information (including precise dates/times of when supposed issues happened), without spawning another loud debate thread. That is now the polar opposite of what has been achieved here.

Ummm, I was looking at your first sentence Inc:

"Ok. You have a suspicion that there is a problem, but you don't want to say who did what and when. Without which this whole post is moot."

I think I 'un-mooted' the post by listing the usual suspects (it's basically the same group of people over and over, day after day) and time when it happened last (you can actually pick any day in the last 3-4 months, they did it).

And I tend to disagree with you - NOTHING has been achieved here except you asking us to hide the dirt under the rug.

Would support ticket really made any difference?

They are using the tools you allowed them to use and as long as you do allow it, it will be like Ecka said:

We will use any trick the devs allow us to get one over on the rest of you. Shove your ethics.

lol, I think Inc's "who" was rhetorical and he ACTUALLY meant what he said below it

Also, if Incarnate would like me to document each and every time I slaughter tsreknors bots while they autobomb stations with Lisa's plugins then I will. I will even submit it via a support ticket.

Also, HOW ABOUT SOME SUBSTANTIVE UPDATES NOW YOU LYING SACKS OF DEVPOO!

Sometimes the only way to bring about change is to bring public focus on the people involved in the behavior. From the great trade plugin fiasco, to vote-mute campaigns, to current state, we have a group of people that insists on trying to over-reach their actual ability through technological back-doors to gain an advantage they cannot hope to achieve through normal game play. Why would this need to be kept secret in a support ticket? Let's discuss this in the open, talk about what is happening, and discuss mitigation.

No, what we have is a group of whining sobs who don't have any legit targets, and all they can seem to do is cry everytime TGFT displays some ingenuity in their tactical response. If one day TGFT found themselves with a large group of skilled pvpers, I'm sure Bojan would find some reason to complain about how that isn't fair either.

How many times do you need to be shot down in these forums before you realize your energy is better spent making a serco nationalist alt, Bojan? SKV is like a baseball team who shows up to a game and finds the other team didn't show, and, instead of splitting themselves into two teams to have some real fun, they go and force the spectators and concession sellers to play against them. Fools.

p.s. Rin and Savet, I don't need you to fix my metaphor.

The only off topic posts that use 'chewbacca defense' to skew away from the issues raised here are Greenwalls, I wonder why...
Aug 23, 2015 greenwall link
I'm not skewing away from anything. My points are entirely relevant to Boda's complaint (which has been already echoed elsewhere by Bojan - hence the tie-in with SKV).

Plugins have long existed that launch, turbo, and fire weapons. There are no plugins that can steer people, however. That inability has long been sufficient in countering any unfair auto-piloting. I'm guessing anytime such a plugin might be used it becomes quite easy to pick off targets since they usually just fly in a straight line.

What I think is funny is that the unfairness is much more heavily weighing in the use of multiple accounts, and NOT any plugin (at least, in station battles). But, at least in the case of SKV, multiple accounts are a part of their strategy so they won't complain about it. Instead they point the finger at some dumb little plugin that is easy to counter.

Greenwall - I gave up long ago on bojansplash. His mind works much like that of a young teenager, if you approach him with common sense. You can tell him how he is wrong and what he is doing is stupid... you can do it mutiple times even - All he will do is react in child-patterns: Either he will just give you a short stupid remark back that has nothing to do with what you actually said, or he will insist he is right, despite that 20 minutes ago he was proven wrong. He then will declare himself the master of dicussion on channel 100.

Another theory of mine is that his brain just blanks out things he doesn't want to see. E.g. his "overreading" that incarnate didn't want any public shittalkery. The man is so blind, even if incarnate walks in and politely tells him to drop the crap, he will go on.

To devs/guides: Can you guys lock this thread and possibly all follow up threads of this sort here? We have a clear statement from incarnate that he wants this in support tickets only. No one needs anymore forums polluted with crap talk. That is what the RP Forums are for. Thank You.

I do find it funny that although the higher ups in TGFT has admitted there IS a plugin for this, that people still deny it though. Not saying Bojan is right but he's not the only one full of it.
