The capship docking zones are larger than the actual capship docking bays, allowing you to dock from the space surrounding the bay even when nowhere near the docking bay's mouth. I'm not talking about approaching from the front and getting docked early. I mean you could be near where the docking bay connects to the station itself, many ship-lengths from the actual opening, and if you're close enough to the wall of the bay it will let you dock. This is especially noticeable when you have auto-docking turned on. :P

Same with regular docking bays. You can skim the top and dock. It's yet another handhold for mobile players I guess, because you did used to bounce right off them.

Well, i actually enjoy them! You can turbo over the docks and still dock.

Eh, it's really that the zone is a box but the docking bays have chamfered corners, so the match isn't perfect.

No, ray it's not just the corners (at least, not as far as the capship docks are concerned). Just try flying in between capship docks them with auto dock on and you'll see what Rin is talking about. Maybe the zone box is just too big?

Greenwall and Rin's observations are accurate and can be quite annoying when you like fighting in NFZ

To me, some of the zones seemed to be misaligned to the station models. Maybe someone if we can get some more details like which station/docks are the problem, Ray could fix it?

Like I said above, this is not just Capship docks. Try skim the docking bay at Sedina D14, you will dock. You can be smack bang in the middle, you will still dock. It is just more notable since autodock became a thing.

I'm not talking about flying into the docks at speed, just skim it and you will see. The size of the docking bay is irrelevant, the time this became noticed was well before autodock or even cap ship bays. It is a very old feature, and I'm sure it will never be fixed. Heck, this goes back to Alpha.

Yeah, it's been a problem for a long time. I've known about it. It bothers me too, especially on the capship docks.

Can you not just make the hitbox for the docking bays smaaller? I mean it would not take that much away from players if they actually had to fly into the docking bay to actually dock? I mean, it is not like we are asking for Elite style docks, just yeah...

Also if you are docking a cap ship thats kind of big, so make them actually dock? Meh, might just be me but it s too easy to dock.

Yes, we can make the hitbox for the docking bay smaller. But we have to do that, and it has not been a big priority relative to other items.
