No backround graphics?
I got the backround back. I disabled rglow. That's it. All better.
Yes, it's a known bug that I will be fixing over the weekend. It's documented in the News.
Well, setting doshaders=0 in the conf.ini file fixed it.
Maybe I'll try doshaders=1 and disabling rglow later, but for now, it runs pretty good (better than ever since the 3.3.2 update), just that nice glowing effects at docks etc. are gone.

Does anyone else have this problem? Since the 3.3.11 update, the backround graphics are gone, so the sectors are just black. No problems with objects inside the sector though. Weird...
Ehm, maybe a Mac related bug again? G4 with OS X 10.2.8, ATI R9k Pro

Try running the game at the various background quality settings. See if any of them work. I believe there was one bug where some quality settings would show up as having no background at all. That might be cropping up again.
I had the same problem, tried switching qualities to no avail. Also, Mac rglow is broken again. A misty, small, mirror image of glowing objects appears in the lower left hand part of the screen.
