and they shouldnt.... i dont really care what response i get to this as most of what i see here is only people critisising each other anyway. It is what is is and i will always call a spade a spade....

when you jump to an empty sector, and the enemy ship is 2400 away.. and then still jumps into the same empty sector of space as you.. and every time you jump he is there .. there is a problem.
Dec 29, 2016 Eyvindr link
I don't understand the problem here... Does people jumping out then jumping back in to the empty sector to be closer to you seem like a bug? All sectors have a fixed entry point, simply flying away from the center prevents them from jumping close to you.

i dont really care what response i get to this as most of what i see here is only people critisising each other anyway.

not true, this is the 'Bugs' forum. No one criticises anyone here as it would just simply be counterproductive.

Are these people on your buddy list? Do you perhaps have a plugin installed that could be sharing your location (The TGFT plugin for instance, or perhaps VOID have their own version)? Do you have a bounty on your head? These are the only times you can actually know where someone is, and the last one isn't fool proof, as the marshalls only update your location when you hit monitored/guarded space.

Trust me when I say this headcasey, there is no way to track others if the answers to the above is no. I mean, unless something has seriously changed, everyone will tell you the same. If you are being chased and think perhaps a plugin is at fault, feel free to email me it and I will have a look at the code for you (my username @ hotmail.com), if you are being chased and think the other player is using some cheats, you should consider a support ticket so the devs can look into it for you (but make sure to remove all plugins first, and see if it still occurs) - but I'm pretty sure they will tell you the same - not possible.

[edit]

Just a note about what I said above about plugins, before I make you paranoid. Publicly available plugins (like those posted in the community forums, or on voupr.com) have been dissected by more than me, and tend to be fine and "honeypot" free, if they were not, there would be many many threads of whining about the authors. It is generally NOT these plugins that I am referring to. The TGFT one being the only exception, and that now comes with a warning that it does send data about you to TGFT servers. I am not trying to sling mud here, just looking for any explanation that makes sense. Because in the default client, there is NO WAY to track someone.

I am pretty sure you can only track someone that jumps out at/within 1000 meters. there was defo 2 jumps i made that should have been untrackable. One was at 1400 meters.

I understand headcasey was being chased by somebody at some point and then he jumped, being more than 1000m away from his enemy. He jumped into an empty sector and yet his enemy could track him, even though he was too far away to be able to see headcasey's next destination.

I misunderstood the question... But I still don't see the bug. This seems to be a clientside error on headcasey's part where his game didn't update fast enough to register the target coming in range, it happened to me a few times too but it's really nothing game breaking.

I have only had one issue with lag since i started playing. Last night i was having no issues with my internet at all.
Dec 30, 2016 Jaks link
I think lag sometimes plays a part in this. I have had people 2k behind me follow me to my trident. I assume they were less than 1k on their client while they showed up 2k for me.

On the other hand i have made good guesstimates where people were going while I was chasing them. So good that they complained I was cheating.

And then there is chance of two players using the same jump vectors to get to a WH.

The grid is 16 by 16 it would have to be a pretty good guess.. i wonder what odds you would get from a bookmaker. I am also on fiberoptic, and was having no issues at all with my intenet yesteday.
Dec 30, 2016 Jaks link
Guesstimate for means I go to areas where people have jumped before. Humans are creatures of habit. Plus the layout of systems kind of dictate where people go. Say for instance there is a storm in Verasi between O-7 and C-2. You might bounce off of O-2 or K-11 to get around the storm safely. So someone chasing you might chose those same sectors, and maybe a few around those.

I'd still be making a guess but it is better odds than just grid searching the whole system. I doubt you're going to bounce off of a roid sector full of hive bots. I mean maybe you're going to, but it will slow you down and it makes your travel far more risky.

About your connection, there could be issues upstream from you. It's not like having fiber optic means you have a direct connection to the game servers. The internet is so much more annoying than that. haha

I live in a very small town, i have ultrafiber though a small company and share the main hub in the town with 3 other people. Its not like i am with b.t or talk talk. It would only really lag if i am downloading and playing and i have already learned my lesson about that one lol.

I am assuming you mentioning those ISPs means you are in the UK?
Dec 30, 2016 headcasey link
yes i am. now seriously i am pulling my sub. People do know where you are and what your up to. There is a lot of fishy stuff going on in this game. Someone called Sappira who has been pm,ing me at random over the last few days knew my exact locs and attacked me in sector space, just to get me to kill him?her. then pm,ed me hows that standing. totally done of purpose obviously to get rid of me. well sappira you got what you wanted.

THis is if you keep doing this to new players this game will die.. it will go under then what will you do?

i have seen alot of evedence of a possible spybot in this game already, i hope the devs really look into this matter because these people will ultimatltly kill this game.

i am having at least a few days off of this game. I wish you all a happy new year and if you dont here from me again the very best to all of you.

p.s. when i come back if i do. i would really appreciate it if my standing was back to where it was.

This is beyond the scope of this thread, and forum(the thread should be in general). But almost all major guilds have some form of spybot/spotter. Including the guild you are apart of . Just look at the modified version of the enter/leave plugin on voupr. These lua scrips have been around for years, and I'm pretty sure they are not having a negative impact on the game. In fact, to keep many of them running 24/7, their owners have to purchase subs.

headcasey, if you really think someone is cheating or exploiting a bug you should report it to the devs. Preferably with some proof so you can make their job easier. I don't think they should give you your standings back however seeing as you did act on your own and kill the person.

I think we've had more than enough discussion and conjecture here for a bug report. let's wait for the dev response please.

One trick is for someone to buddy you and then report your location to your opponent.

You can turn this off in your buddy list so not even they can know where you are at.

This trick also works in some guilds as well....
Dec 30, 2016 raybondo link
If you aren't sharing your location to anyone (via guild, plugin, group, buddy, or some player-bot relaying your location when it detects you), then please report it in a support ticket and we will verify. Give a time, source sector, destination sector, and who followed you and we can look it up in our logs.
