Exiting Player Capship Turret causes damage

Jan 06, 2018 greenwall link
If you enter a player capship turret while the capship is incurring damage to its shield, the shield is then reduced to that level when you exit the turret. The shield then regenerates as it would normally being "hit".

Example:

Something or someone is shooting your capship and your shield is at 24% when you enter one of its turrets. Regardless of what level your shield is at when you later exit (assuming you still have a shield), it will drop to 24% upon exit, as though you were hit with that exact amount of damage.

So even if you are completely safe in an empty sector and you have a full shield -- when you exit that turret it drops to 24% as though being hit.

This is actually only a visual glitch of the hud, and not an actual shield drop. Get a friend to help confirm it, get them to shoot you up, exit the turret and tell you if your shield drops for them.

It wont. Still a bug I guess, but not as bad as it seems.

I've confirmed this on other people's capships as well. It is not a HUD glitch. The visual shield levels are real, as you can further damage the shield by the remaining amount and remove the shield.

I have also confirmed this and had my shield dropped because of it.

Thought I reported that one years ago...

It's not a visual glitch. You can see it on other players ships and take advantage of it to deshield ships with less firepower.

Sorta seems like something about the state of the shield gets stuck when you get into a turret and it replays that when you get out of it. It keeps happening afterwords.

I've had it drop as low as 25% from that and had to leave the sector and come back for it to go away.

That is super bizarre.

It may have been reported at some point, but neither Ray nor I remember it at present.

Anyway, we'll check it out.
