Audio volume is overridden when making new alt. I have my in game volume set to zero on everything, but when i make a new character I get the full blast "Welcome pilot" intro speech.

I'm using the linux client.

Oh, that voiceover is a different channel, similar to the Text To Speech on mobile devices so that voiceovers don't get filtered like other sound effects do during large explosions and the like.
Do:
/set tts_volume 0
to mute that channel.
The number is 0 to 1 where 1 is full volume.

We'll have to add that to the Audio Options.
