Escort missions in capships don't count
If you take an escort mission in a small ship, then dock with your capship and pilot it (not docking inside another capship and getting a free taxi) the mission still counts you as being docked the whole time, and doesn't give you rewards. Whereas the only time you're "docked" in the entire period is the gap between docking in the capship and taking control.
I mean, you are being hired as a fighter-escort? If you aren't flying in a fighter, what good are you?
This seems more like grounds for a Suggestion that escort missions have different mechanics for hiring player-capships. But, it seems like those wouldn't really be escorts anyway? Due to the lack of substantial capship combat mechanics.

U can keep up in a goliath and even a dent and theres not really a reason it should stop u considering the turret firepower is quite good and sometimes needed for players with capships blockading. Its also a good means of getting something when flying point A to point B as u can fly alongside along the way.
That said u can just order your capship to follow and fly a much weaker ship along side (really why would u tho if ur capship can keep up)
