So I just tried creating two characters, the last one minutes ago. I was shown the "Entering universe" screen after choosing my character name, and then... nothing happened, the screen got stuck. Had to restart the game each time to then finally enter the training sector.

Ok, it looks like the bug happens when you tried creating a character with a name that already exists.

This bug will be fixed in the next client patch.
