way to avoid the 10 second logout timer.

if you're playing in windowed mode, it allows you to press the x and leave the game immediately. just some fyi.

If you "force quit" like that, your ship floats in a straight line for 60 seconds before it times out. Just some fyi.

Command-q on the Mac, no matter if in window mode or not. :)

but what roguelazer said... your ship floats in a straight line for 60 seconds before it times out.. (or it doesn't float at all if your not moving when you exited... right?)

Also, when you exit like that, stats are not saved...correct, FM?

Such is my understanding, yes.

{Edit: WRONG! I was misled!}

So basically, you become dogmeat for 60 seconds. If you do it in a sector with bots, expect to log in to a "buy ship" screen. Furthermore, if you spent/earned any money since your last warp, it isn't saved (there's a moneybug in there somewhere...)

I'm having trouble with the manual out of station logoff sequence.

I come to a full stop, 3000+ meters from all objects and type /logoff or select exit in the menu, and evey time the countdown is aborted without any input to ship's controls on my part.

Devs?

Same here. Hell, I even unplug the joystick. It starts at 10, and aborts after that.

You need to be in physics mode to logoff outside of station.

Randomblast,

there is no moneybug. killing the game doesnt result in such a bug.

RelayR, that is not correct. Your stats only go unsaved if the server crashes. If forcing an exit caused your money to go unsaved this would allow anyone two people to make infinite money.

Rogue: that's absolutely silly. Why should you be required to change flight models to log off?
Jun 27, 2004 Eldrad link
Celkan because there is a bug at the moment which makes arcade mode cancel the timers.

Rogue is right (mostly.) Once you start the countdown, you're not allowed to move your ship at all. But arcade mode is always making minor adjustments to your ship's speed, so that triggers the countdown abort.

And yes, as far as I know, all your stats get saved no matter what method you use to log off. (Unless, like Eldrad mentioned, the server crashes.)
