Silly bulk buying bug.
Buy 999999 free engines, never completes transaction, disconnects from sever, log back on 3k+ out in space

Good call.

It appeared not to have any effect for me, then I tried to leave the station and was disconnected. I tried it again and it hung trying to leave the station and a variety strange things happened with the station interface, then I was disconnected.

Well... that explains why sectors are randomly eating almost a gig of memory. PLEASE STOP DOING THIS.

The fix will roll into sectors as they become inactive. If someone does it again I'll restart the server without warning and post their name.

Aren't you glad that someone found the "hog the memory" bug?

Just one question, why cant i buy 1000 tons of Silicate Ore now?? Its only 8000 credits.
It says 'Station transaction error: Sucess'

/me ducks

Heh. Well, thank you for finding it in any case. The server seems to be better behaved now.

I guess we could let you buy 1000 tons of ore, but what would you do with it? It'd be pretty tedious to cart around.
Jul 03, 2004 Urza link
yes. you should let us buy it. But i guess there needs to be some cap so people dont buy tons and tons of stuff...

/me likes it, its sooo purty and sparkly and shiny. And 'My Little Pony' space wings edition just love to eat it........

Would a Frigate have the capacity to hold 1000 widgets? If so, this bug may need fixing.

/me reminds everybod a thread about connectiong nation staning + cargo hold in stations.. (up to 250 cargo hold when you are admired + up to 100 additional for a price - engines, weapons and such are also involved!)
Jul 04, 2004 raybondo link
Yeah, we're going to implement a max cargo limit per station. These space stations aren't tardises, you know. ;)
Jul 04, 2004 RelayeR link
RelayeR wonders if anyone else here knows what a "tardis" is.

Cargo.......limit.................

uh oh - are my hoarding days numbered?

=(

musings...

will this apply to all equipment items too and ship hulls?

what about cargo and or equipment stored within ship hulls?

will faction standing / levels affect storage space?

if there is to be a limitation, can there be a visible notation of how many used/left spaces there are please?

(and the thought leaves me in horror!)

btw no answers expected =)
/me waits patiently to see what happens when ingame

=p

ciu - link the thread you mention plz

raybondo: it shouldn't be a hard cargo quota.. it should vary depending on station type/standing (+ additional cargo hold you could buy fron faction)

/me have made some *bumps* in some (IMO reasonable) posts on forum.. hope nobody gets angry.. :P

Actually, we can let you have qty 30000 (or 4294967295 for that matter) of some widget in a station -- that doesn't cost us any extra memory. It's just that engines and batteries and ship parts can't be combined the same way, since they each have a unique state. In theory, anyhow.

We should probably just have a cap on the number of cargo instances, and not on the total quantity of stuff.
