Orientation is wrong

Jul 30, 2004 RelayeR link
You must know how I despise the terms up & down while in Vendetta but the term upside down is relevant.

Everyone in Vendetta is oriented upside down by default. If you go to Endras System to any of the #1 sectors and look at the twin suns, it becomes apparent that they are opposite from the map. It explains my disorientation (excuse the pun) since the new universe was released. Trips to other systems have confirmed my suspicions.

The Space Shuttle exits the Earth's atmosphere upside-down. You don't hear NASA complaining about it, do you?

=b

But seriously, there's a reason for it. For those who are interested in the topic, check this out:

Good stuff. Anyway this isn't a bug. I don't think it really matters. Since wormholes are a naturally occuring entity in the Vendetta universe, they're going to be unpredictable in nature. The fact that the original space pioneers lost contact due to wormhole activity further proves this.

/me slaps RelayeR for reporting this as a bug

Yes, a very educational site...I agree.

BUT, as we enter each sector, we are upside down.
Our ships are of far superior design than that ancient shuttle and are capable of flying very near suns, even with the cockpit facing the sun!

None of your information justifies a reason for entering every sector UPSIDE DOWN!
Left and right do have a place in our universe and when the map tells me that I'm entering a sector and should see the sun on my left, I get miffed when it isn't there!

I am a huge fan of the roll maneuver but, for EVERY sector?

/me puts Arolte on my /vote mute list for the next time he actually plays while I'm on :P

Yeah, I'd say it's probably a bug.

Probably?

Here, Andy and Arolte...I made some desktops for you...

So basically this could be fixed by flipping every system map graphic.

Beautiful. I just got a new desktop image. Thanks.

=)

This can be fixed by, very simply, turning your monitor upsidedown.

Rofl. But then my entire hud would be upside down!

Oh, brother... O.o

Just wait...IF it gets fixed, you'll all be thanking me!

:-P

My mistake, sorry. Misunderstood what you meant. I just ran through some of the systems and now I know what he's talking about. Some of the wormhole locations on the universe map are incorrect or something is upside-down. Say for example you wanted to generally travel eastward in the universe and you pick a wormhole on the east side of the zoomed system map, sometimes the wormhole will take you westward instead. In other words they're labeled right and everything, but their location sometimes put you in the opposite direction of where you intended to go, if you're not too careful with the names.

No, all you need to do (until the devs figure out how to orient us 180 degrees laterally from what we are now) is do a 180 degree roll as you enter each sector...then, everything will be where it belongs.

"...that lemon on your left, for instance."

(name that quote)

You are both correct. I have observed the phenomena that Arolte speaks of. I also have felt uncomfortably "upside down" flying into sectors.

Nice reference, RelayeR.

Ya know...I wouldn't have logged off while on that Itani cargo mission and get stuck in that station for two days if I'd been RIGHT-SIDE UP!!

I was disoriented because I was misoriented! :P
