Tutorial

Probably will have been stated already, but I presumed to post it anyway since it aint such a big thing.

I went through it quickly to see what it was, and as you stated there will be more in it :D

Now some problems:

1) everything untill the combat works ok, actually the combat works ok to, but you might consider letting the bot that gets spawned give some basic combat and light weapon eperience once killed.

2) And once you finished it off, letting it drop something would be nice also (maybe some cargo, or it in flight changes your ship to one with a better weapon "mk1 government issued blaster for instance?")

3) then after killing the bot a message pops up stating that the mission is over, although the tutorial mission is still active..., so it would be nice if you let it complete the tutorial mission at that time.

4) I know you planned more for later, since this was only a framework test, but it could be nice if you finish the tradepart of the tutorial to give a tip to an attractive traderoute in the vicinity and to in flight change it to a better batt, some sort of free batt mk1.

Naturally all of these should only be obtainable from the tutorial and should not be that much better, but will still help out a complete newbie, and feel as if he is doing something for something. Will encourage following the tutorial, even for us oldtimers :D

Anyway, I dont know if this is the correct place to put this ramble in, so forummod work your magic if it is needed.

The one thing I noticed that may want to be thrown in is an easy to see break between sections of the tutorial. When it gives you the info then you hit 1, it can sometimes take a few seconds to see where the next line starts. Some sort of divider would help with that.

Not really a big deal but hey, if we are making suggestions I thought I would add it in.

Heh, I was looking at ways to do that too, but everything I tried was ugly. Maybe I can still come up with something.

Well I guess you could make the tutorial mission fit into the RPGness a bit by making it come from a mission bot with a name. Like Commander something or whatever fits the story. Then have this "person" take them through the tutorial.

You could try changing the color of the first word said by the mision bot for the tutorial as well.

I could come up with more ideas, however I am sure you have already thought of most of them and will come up with something good to fix it.

I guess just and empty line between tutorial texts would suffice, while not being too ugly.

As for the Commander bot taking you through the mission, it's a good idea, IMO.

Another thing, when you're out there and the tutorial mission tells you that a bot has been warped to you, the bot (atleast in my case) was warped some 5k units away from me, and I had to wait few minutes before it appeared on my radar... Some 2k should be enough.

well agaisnt the time you read the entire convo and fiddled around with the targetting and so on 5 minutes have passed :D

At least it was so for me :D
