Yes, I fixed 99% of the problem; it can still fail, so I'm fixing that now.

I was wondering if the download for 'media.rlb' is suppposed to be 50-odd megs. On my connection, that could easily take upwards of a few hours.

In general, it isn't supposed to be 50-odd megs unless you're downloading from scratch or from a very old version, but in practice a few updater bugs have caused full redownloads for some people.

a1k0n: in act of despair I tried running the updater after turning off Norton Personal Firewall... and it worked.
I know my ISP is crappy, but atm the only alternative would be modem :(
