Continually rolling bots always hit, on correction.

Ok, it's a bit odd, but it's a very, very, very annoying thing.

1. Use Arcade mode. Ok?

2. Fight a bot > dentek - usually something with burst-fire. Most noticeable with Aputech-5's, thus far - but duplicated with Devus D3's, Valent A-47's, TyCorp assaults... off the top of my head.

Now, here's where you'll have to pay attention.

3. When you go after a bot, when it gets within 6-700 meters, turn your throttle OFF. Completely off. Begin lateral thrust - I use right, usually. Now, roll - full over, as fast as it goes.

Use the joystick x/y to aim, while being relatively erratic, in your patterns. I have YET to be hit by directed fire, from any bot, with this pattern. EXCEPT - which is why this post is here - for one thing.

This pattern keeps you approximately 150-250m from the bot - well out of splash range, but close enough to hit fairly regularly - if you're used to flying, and shooting like that. I am, because that's how you fly in a little space sim called Tachyon: The Fringe - and the same pattern works beautifully here.

Now, the problem - every so often, the bot will get tired of following your roll, and correct itself to try and "catch up" to your roll. That's not the problem. The problem is, _every_single_time_ it does this, it makes a noticeable _skip_. Or, in other terms, it _warps_ from one place to another, seemingly at random, and with 100% accuracy, while it does so, at anywhere between 0 to ~350 meters.

Basically, what it looks like, is that the bot is lagged out, and while it's lagged out, it's firing, and hits you during that spike. Either, in my opinion, the continual roll is doing something funky with the AI, and it "breaks", and hits you while it's broken, or, there's some continual lag problem with their little "course correction" that you don't see at the usual "backing away" style of fighting the bots. Or, worse case, it's a design "feature", to make sure people don't try to out-roll the bots. Which would be, at the least, very annoying.

If you want anything described, or shown to you, I'd be happy to be a bit more specific, but that's what happens. It's not THAT bad, because I rarely, if ever, die due to occasional "error correction" lag hits - but, it's annoying to not get hit once, have the bot jump across the screen, and hit me. It always happens when it tries to correct it's roll, so I'm wondering if it's an AI error.

Any ideas? Want some more info?

Hey, I use that move too! It was the only way I could keep the bots from ramming into me in Arcade Mode whilst I was firing. They spend so much time turning to meet you that they don't advance and ram you like they normally do. Didn't know it was a Tachyon move. That's pretty cool.

I'm not sure what you are describing, though. Let me correct. I understand what is happening, but I'm not sure it has happened to me while doing it. I haven't fought anything past the Aputech-5 in any sort of regularity, though.

Edit: Coincidentally, if a second bot is firing at you from the side/above/below add about 20% forward thrust. It still hits, but very rarely and gives you time to take on two. Won't work well when it's behind you, you have to manuver up and get them into position or it won't work.
