Is this an American spelling? In the UK it's spelled "INDEPENDENT"

Independant gets yelled at by my spell checker, while independent does not.

Well, dependant is one who depends on another for survival: ie, a child is a dependant of their parents. So perhaps independant is a child who does not depend on their parents for survival?

Heh, yes, I misspelled the word.
RelayeR, the error you had was very very easy to see. If the commas were placed seemingly randomly, it would be harder to spot the error (seemingly random but not really random).

The spelling error has been fixed.

The old spelling made sense, too. I mean, how many of us really depend on ants? Do we even have ants in this part of the galaxy?

Indépendant is french
we says many American words in France like super, hot, water etc... and for countdown: count has rebush (compte a rebours or compte a rebush)
