Frequent crashes

If Vendetta Online is repeatedly crashing for you, here are some things you can do to help debug the problem.
Check out your system integrity using software disgnostics.
Make sure you are not overclocking any components.
Find some software that tests all of your RAM. Diagnostic software would probably do this for you.
Do a harddrive bad block scan.
Make sure you have the latest video drivers. If you just changed video drivers and started having problems, try reverting back to the previous version of drivers and submit a bug report explaining what happened, listing both driver versions and all of your hardware specs.

If everything checks out ok, remove non-essential hardware and try running VO again. If it still fails, try reinstalling the OS and then install VO to see if there was a third-party app causing problems.

You are all beta testers here and getting to the root of any VO crash is pretty important at this stage.

Thank you for your help.

99% of the crashing bug reports we receive seem to be a result of bad RAM or bad video card drivers.

I'd reccomend Sisoft Sandra's Burn-In test, for a pretty good all-around system diagnostic and stress test.

If you think your RAM is the problem:

"Memtest86 is thorough, stand alone memory test for x86 architecture computers. BIOS based memory tests are a quick, cursory check and often miss many of the failures that are detected by Memtest86."

While I agree that Memtest86 is a great diagnostic tool, and use it often on service calls, I have found that it doesn't detect all memory problems. I recently had a problem with a customers computer that would reboot it self every few days or so. It was a dual channel memory system, and those can be touchy. We swaped out the system and brought it in for full diags. After several days of running in normal, extended, and full memory tests, memtest86 didn't turn up any problems.

I then decided to try Prime95 out. After only a few minutes of running the "tortue" test it came back with an error stating there was a hardware problem. I turned down the memory timings slightly, and sure enough, the problem went away! System is totaly stable now. The only draw back is that Prime95 requires a working OS, so it is only good for detecting stability issues. Memtest86 is nice in that it is self sufficient, running on it's own mini linux kernel. Both are very good tools to have! And both are FREE!!

You can get Prime95 at this web site:

I have only used the windows version so far, but they do have linux and freebsd versions. They also have links to some versions compiled for macs. When installing use the option to install for diag purposes only, that is unless you want to work on prime numbers as a hobby. ;)

Thrangar, you're using Nvidia driver version 6.14.10.5303, which is pretty old. Please try updating your video drivers.
