Disappearing convoy

Oct 20, 2004 Spider link
Well, today we were going for a convoy, Trying to defend it (not a big deal really) and the convoy warped.. Then disappeared.

It wasn't ever heard from again, never reported damage, attack or another warp.

After a while, a new convoy came around.

Maybe it will come back all white and full of holes... AND STEAL YOUR SOUL!

Ugh. I don't know why it's doing that. We've been getting lots of these too:

ERROR? Commander: our bot 1073741987 of type ctfleader is no longer online.

.... related? Naaaaah!

Vlad: They're warping off the page... Check next to your desk.

I tried Wed afternoon to verbose this but a pilot that should have known I was bug testing killed the transport before it got to where it usually disappears.

I think we should have a special "reward" for those that interfere with bug testing.

Thanks, everyone, for heeding our request to leave the serco convoy alone tonight. Wouldn't you know it, when we got a good run, with every jump monitored on both ends, the transport made it without disappearing... =P Stupid Heisenburg...

Hopefully the devs can use the verbose logs RelayeR was able to get from both runs. (The first run, it disappeared, but nobody was watching on the destination side of the last WH jump.)

Even though the transport made it, we still witnessed several bugs (may be redundant):

-Storm jumping can sometimes not follow the exit point rule. The transport jumped out of one storm 4km from the exit..

-WH jumping. The transport (again) warps out around 4km from the WH area. It often travels in the opposite direction of the WH.

-In system jumping: The 3km rule is sometimes not followed, but sometimes it is.

-Loitering: We saw the transport sit idle a few times each run, when it was supposed to be WH'ing. Not sure what it's waiting for.

-Also the escort ships hardly ever follow the transport more than one in-system jump. Are they supposed to sit around the starting point? Seems to me they should follow the transport as closely as they do after exiting the station...

After a little trial and error *cough*name withheld*cough* I was able to get a verbose 9 log and sent it to Andy and Ray.

Dev's, good luck.

Everyone, thanks for the cooperation.

Other "interesting" convoy behaviors:

On top of the convoy heading in completely the wrong direction to get to the wormhole, I actually saw a transport make a wormhole jump fully 5km from the actual wormhole. That meant that to keep up with the thing, I had to dash across the system to get to where I could wormhole jump. That one transport all of a sudden made a dash through the route, and at the last wormhole, decided to stop and wait in the wormhole. For what? I dunno. Maybe it was waiting for the other transport in the convoy that was subsequently destroyed. I never did learn what happened to that transport because I rushed back to try to help retrieve the cargo, but I was too late, and then had to log. On top of that, again, nearly all of the transports' escorts disappeared into the abyss, and the one or two A-3 assauts that did successfully make the jump didn't actually do anything to stop Storm from attacking the transports.

The transport has actually warped over 9k from the wormhole... so far.
