Bug or feature?- Changing Home Station when you cant...

dock at your normal station because you have a Kill on Sight. Heres how it happened...

Me and a bunch of other people(Spider,Niki,[syn]n00b, and others) were flying around either bractus C-5 or bractus D-9 in busses and shooting each other. I run up to Spider and /explode

I have my Home station set to the sector im in, but it says "You are unable to dock here" and throws me to EO! (k-11 I think) Eo is An entire universe away from bractus! Plus, thats my new home station! I didnt kill an Aerna Seeker, I didnt lose any standing whatsoever with NS3.

Then figuring I might as well explore some serco space, decided to take my bus to Sol II.

Maybe if such a thing were to happen again it could be the Nearest capitol station instead of the farthest? :( It took me around 15-20 minutes to get back to bractus.

Such antics should lock you out of the game for an hour! :)

That would be mean :( And I dunno if its a bug or feature. Maybe it could be a mixture of the two?

If you are locked out of a station you will be put back to one in your home nations territory. Not sure why it kicked you out though. Could you dock there when you went back?

his exploding probably caused him to damage spider. That would set him to temporary KOS, which would persist until he left the sector and returned. Since he was homed there, he didnt leave the sector before trying to return to the station (being killed)

it was meant as a joke, sloanesky (note smiley).
Spell is right. The temp KOS prevented the server from allowing you to spawn in that station so it defaulted to one of your nation's capitol stations.
I'm betting you were able to dock there when you got back.

I believe this is the fix Andy put in after some of us dropped back to hate while in an opposing nations station (like a Serco logging off or aborting while on a trade mission for Itani). The server didn't know what to do with us so we were in-station and not in-station at the same time.

Yeah, something like that. Actually Ray fixed it, not me :P

Wow, Andy... you really did change! What ever happened to blaming Ray for the bad stuff and you taking credit for the good? :P

Strange thing is that the new station-shifting code isn't in the production version.
What happened was that you got randomly put into one of your own nation's beginning stations.
That's been that way for a very long time. The thing is that you damaged someone after you were dead, therefore enabling temporary KOS which normally gets cancelled when you die. But since you didn't die after the new temporary KOS was enabled, the station didn't want you because you were KOS.

My home station was set to the one in Eo from bractus, and when I got back to the sector where my ship was I wasnt even attacked by the station guards or anything. Im confused, but Im guessing its a feature not a bug so I guess theres nothing wrong. :(
