Client/Server syncing problem back.

except it's worse this time. i've been forcing my client to resync with the server about 2 times per bot (printscreen to freeze the game for a moment)in order to kill it as shots are not registuring. i'm also seeing numerious lag complaints within global chat aswell.

Agreed. I was killed a couple of times yesterday due to lag (no indication I was shot except loss of hull or death). Some sectors are fine but some are very "s12 ish".

Agreed, very 'laggy' but only in certain sectors and regardless of quantity of players.
Getting avg ping of 137 but getting owned by bots jumping about like grasshoppers! Slaughtered inumerable bots to see them fly off into the distance ignoring me.
Other usual stuff too like - not being able to dock first time, weird no jumping effect. Just like the last time.
Yes im in Europe (UK) but im on a 1mb cable line and it was fine before the last update.

bandwidth != latency

Doesn't seem possible to get a 137ms ping time with the packets bouncing off satellites over the ocean.. Maybe they're going over cables. Still, 137 is great for Europe. (Edit: that being said, some other from of lag must be the culprit..)

But I've seen a little lag. It seems to hiccup at the exact moment I line up a good shot on a bot. =P

same issue here in south florida. fighting bots then suddenly bot stops firing on me, then jumps off screen followed by me loosing most my armor/death.

kinda frustraiting when in advanced combat training.

this problem seems to be sector/system restricted.. in verasi (most of it's sectors) it's rare i have to force a sync, maybe once or twice out of 20 valent assaults. however if i go to any other it's chaos. i'm not sure if braxx is going to post here, but he is having the exact same problems aswell.

update after the server maintence you guys did earier: the problem has not been corrected =\ i'm going to try to give as much detailed information as i can. i currently run the game primarly in windows because my ATi card is.. well.. it doesn't run vendetta right heh.

i login, and everything is slick smooth for 15 minutes just like the beta, every shot registures, ships arn't wobbleing, it's perfect.

after that 15 minutes it's pure chaos.. all the bots stop for a second (like lag) and return to their normal movement/firing but with wobbleing. this is where i cannot damage a bot for the life of me. i can fire on one of them for 2-3 minutes watching them all hit, but no beep indication that i hit them, and no damage.

here's some info from my winsock.log file in the vendetta folder that is around the same time. i don't know if it's relevent but i hope this helps.

i reported the same problem in the beta http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/2/6563 and it was corrected. i'm not sure what's going on here.. ever since final this problem has returned, and very presistent.

i am trying to enourage people to post on this thread who have the same problems also as it's just not me.

I have this problem in almost all sectors with higher level bots.
Suddenly they "die" and stay still in space - and i get the red flash on screen telling me i got hit and my hull decrease. Then the bot jump like crazy (mush have som super turbo-turbo when it can du that :). I've tried to run ping tests at same time and there is not packet loss or anything indicating there is a network problem on my side.

Its sooo frustrating getting killed that way in a mission.

Another thing i experience is that the screen update rate go to like 1 frame a sec for some seconds - then its wery hard to manouver cuz when i move the mouse to turn the ship it turn a second later - and then i have turned way too far.

Dunno if its a bug or if its my computer that cant handle it.
I have an 1.5GHz Pentium-M with 1Gb ram and Radeon Mobility 9000 (M9) videocard running on an IBM ThinkPad R50

If you're seeing WSAENOTSOCK errors while you're playing, then there is definitely a client bug.

Is this only happening in Windows? Which version of Windows are you using?

Can you coordinate the times in winsock.log with the times in errors.log to see what was going on at the time?

windows 2003 standard edition, with all updates.

here's my error log around 18:56:x the !!!'s are when it went out of sync. i went back to my homebase and logged. i usually go back to Dau to destroy some denteks for a client/server test.

i will begin testing linux in a'bit to see if it suffers the same problem.

EDIT: this is why i only play vendetta in windows with a very stable, bugfree, no history of problems, Radeon! (ha ha) i had my config.ini trying some differnt ideas i had, which obviousaly didn't work :P

i have turned all settings to low, to reduce the visual problems to make it playable (ugly tho ugh!) i'm playing on linux at the moment for the test.

so far i haven't had one lag problem yet, and the network preformence is far superior than windows, inside of vendetta. i am still however skeptical. i will do further extensive testing in a'bit. i will edit this post with a progress update.

EDIT: 100% flawless.. no lag, and the bots are by far smoother =D seems like you guys broke something in the windows client.

you're the man a1! i can finally give my printscreen key a rest in windows =D

i do have other dreaded news however, and i think you guys already know about it. at some points the bots freeze up for about 2 seconds. now if this happens when you're in the middle of botting prosus/dentek assaults you are surely dead with cherries ontop. i would like to stress the problem you corrected earier (shots not registuring at all, but the bots can shoot you) is not related to this lag problem.

this lag problem is pretty much.. well normal lag where the server completely stops sending you data, it basicly spikes. usually when these spikes happen channel 100 fills up with ''did you feel that'' or ''damn it i died''.

other than that.. if that spiking problem is corrected it'll be just like the beta/alpha network which was damned smooth near the end = )

i'd like to back up sputnik's claims about the spiking. advances combat is a bit frustraiting when your sheilds drop between 20 to 50 percent because of a lag problem. it is a rather consistant event for me. it happens once for every bot i fight and sometimes happens within a few seconds of the second bot firing at me.

i am using mac osx 10.3.5, and am about to upgrade to 10.3.6

While playing last night I was having some lag-type probs in various sectors in
the Eo system. Not really severe, but there were intervals of about 3-4 seconds
when shots fired at bots did not register. The end of an "interval" was easy to
see, as the bots all "twitched" dramatically. I'm playing on DSL which has been
consistently testing at about 700k. Use Mac dual 1Ghz running OSX 10.2.8...
