Lost chat text during worm hole jump
I had positioned my ship on the brink of a worm hole. As I waited for my battery to recharge I decided to take a screenshot. So, I set the camera to controllable third person mode and turned off the HUD and took the screenshot screenshot. Without turning the HUD back on or returning to first person I activated the worm hole. During the load screen I pressed F9 to return to first person and pressed F4 to turn the HUD back on; this immediately turned the chat text back on. When I arrived in the new sector I was still in third person (no surprise) with chat, and mission [accessible], text visible. Note, that I did not have a HUD. When I turned the HUD on, again, I was unable to see the chat text. Pressing F2 did not affect this and I was only able to view the text by turning the HUD back off. I ended up having to logoff and log back on to get things back to normal.
I've experienced this problem, too, but relogging is not necessary to fix it. Use /hidelog, which toggles the display of the chat text.

Yeah, using F9 to toggle the HUD and chat is actually 2 commands. One that toggles the hud and one that toggles the chat.
Executing the F9 command while in the load screen will try doing these 2 things but it will fail to unhide the HUD because it is not supposed to be visible.
Now when you are in a sector, pressing F9 will still toggle both things but they are backwards from each other.
Either typing /hidelog or /hudtoggle will resynchronize them.
