serco nation is buggy

Nov 24, 2004 NoAddedSugar link
no valk (the uber-ship in this game)
no decent weapons for their "special" ship
ctc route is longer then Itani's one
bad backstory (you really cannot make a nation that evil in a MMORPG and hope nobody will notice)

why should anybody join them beside of old grown serco proud from the alpha?
is there a fix in the queue?

lots of people join Serco because it is the "bad" group etc. Itani has always had more noobs long before the backstory was published. But Serco has always retained more vets, it evens out.

The ships can be fixed with more ships that I am sure will come out when the devs (or dev I should say) has time to make them all. Graphics take forever to make.

And when I read the backstory the only people I did not find evil were the UIT. Itani looked bad IMO, its all persepective though.

Well, I disagree. It may even out at the moment, but there are lots of new players joining Itani. And once they will have the Valk...

Oh, I forgott, you are Itani, aren't you?

And please notice: This is not in roleplaying. It is in bugs, because I see it as a design glitch.
I just wanted to hear from the devs, if they are aware, that some serco think that there is a problem with nations balancing

I tend to disagree with the general tone of NoAddedSugar's post, but i will agree that the backstory paints the serco in a very bad light.

The itani end up looking Nasty/Zealous but reformed. The serco just come off as arrogant and stupid.

The CtC routes are the same length, but it would be nice if the Serco end point was in Rhamus and there was a station on the Ukari side of the Ukari-Initros wormhole to make the routes the same difficulty. AS it presently stand the itani have 1 more sector to attack the serco transports in.

The serco transports are undefended by nation strike forces in
Sedina L2, B8; Latos O-12 and B-6; and Ukari O-13 and A-10 - 6 sectors
Itani transports are undefended by nation strike forces in
Bractus C-5 and E-2; Pelatus K-15 and G-2; and Edras H-15, - 5 sectors.

Aditionally Divinia is only accessable via Jallik, but Pyronis can be reached through helios, a grey system that Itani can base out of (B-14)

The valk is another thread.
The L-ports could use some balance, but that is, again, another thread.

I actually consider that an advantage for the Serco. There are two possible routes to take when Serco are attempting to return ill-gotten Itani ore, making it that much harder for Itani to catch them.

ummm, thats also 2 routes that itani can use to hit serco convoys inside serco space, and 1 more route they can escape by, which they have done in the past, but those two do kind of balance out. (other than the fact that the nav computer always takes you via initros)

Point. Except that the Itani path converges into one before they can return the cargo, so you can catch them in Edras or Jallik.

[Edit] It's pretty much a moot point though, since in the current state of affairs it's nigh impossible to catch someone who wants to run anyway. [/edit]

Regarding the severely Itani-slanted backstory, I am planning a full Serco perspective backstory that will paint them in a much better light. The Itani account says that information regarding the Serco is fragmented, and I assume that it was probably gained via the UIT (who already don't like Serco). So in all likelyhood, Itani information is inaccurate, or incomplete at best. My account will show the entire history of Serco.

I did not want to discuss single specific issues.
I am sure every single point I stated can be discussed (and in fact, I think every point I wrote _was_discussed in the past).

I wanted to point out, that if you look close to the three nation, there seems to be an advantage for Itani.

Hey, I personally think, that the UIT are less attractive too, because they cannot buy the Neutron III. Never. With the current stats of the weapons, this is a problem too. Every Serco can work themself to own a valk, and every Itani can work to own a Prom (Allthough I do not think that this will ever happen), but there seems no way for a UIT to own the most powerfull weapon in this game.

So... I just wanted to ask the devs to look into such things.

uhhh... just saw:

that, has happend. keep a close eye out and you'll see valks in the hands of sercos, and some itanis with proms. that.. is one hell of a glitch heh. i suspect an itani player can be so loved in serco that'd they would give them everything, and vice versa is a work around until the faction system is tweaked.

or, until the promethious is fixed so it isn't close to worthless as a ragnarok so sercos have a chance to obtain the *speaks the 4 letter word of doom again that the catholic church will burn you at the stake for* valk to reduce whining until the problem is solved.

it seems the devs are finished with the valkyire's stats (it's barely been edited, post after post after post does nothing. that pretty much tells you they're done with it and moving on), and are now hopefully moving onto serco's.
