Bonus stage!

At the moment, all missions appear green on the select mission list.

If harder (compared to your current level), randomly added missions were indicated in yellow, gave no extra exp, but instead a "mystery gift"- say, a pair of weapons or some cargo not normally sold at the station (or even slightly-better-than-or-different-to-shop-weapons, in rare cases... like a regular neutron blaster with slightly better autoaim, for instance. Even *unique* "XL" port weapons when capital ships are in full swing and there's large missions to do in them) then I think that'd be pretty interesting, personally. :P

I guess the trick to this would be to make the weapons non-storable- as in, either you equip the weapons (random based on what ports you have and what weapons you have equipped, within reason- high-class weapons like the N3 wouldn't yield uber-N3s, and if you have an AGT on there's only a limited chance of getting your bonus as a better AGT. Something like a phased blaster, no problem with giving a better one) right away, or you don't get the goods. And you cannot re-fit your ship if you choose to take the gamble and set the weapons they're offering...

This would provide more of an incentive to "punch above your weight" as it were, and go for real tough challenges as opposed to lots of well-paying-off piddly tasks if you want the cool stuff. Basically taking a little emphasis off levelling, and putting a little on "whoa, cool. Let's go find an Itani/Serco/one of those bloody BLAK who've pirated me seven times in the last half an hour to kill :D"

To extend this further, you could award cool weapons/batteries/ships to players competing to complete the same mission. As in, Corvus is holding a tourny'o'death- and if you win, you get to fly a Corv Vult with 60/s drain and contraband N3s. Or Serco are searching for their champion to tackle an Itani battlecruiser, if you win you get a 50/s skycommand with fixed weaponry of an avalon torpedo rack'o'8 to play with... >:D

Nice Idea, give you A reason to keep the same ship longer, in some cases.

and to add to that; make two "buy ship" places, one for just a skilaton (nah ha, I still can't spell) and one for pre-made ships the wepons for those are non-changeable, and stronger, but since you can't change em' its a trade off.
