Duel duel stat lists

Jul 28, 2006 csgno1 link
I notice that many top-ranked duelers are not around much anymore, therefore hard to find and compete with. Can there be a second list which only shows players who have logged in sometime during the previous 3 months? Or maybe only characters who have had a duel within three months? The lists could be called "Duel Stats" and Dueling Hall of Fame" or something.

OR... Duels over a certain age no longer count in the score. Then it would show how we are all doing against the current player base.

Makes sense to me. No resting on your laurels!

Many?

The only ones I can see are Eldrad and Mists, both of whom have alts and occasionally show up.

UDave shows up from time to time, as does Martin.

Do the top Duelers have to be on 24/7?

Furthermore, many have taken a Hiatus while the game improves, most still have their subscriptions.

I don't mind the idea in principle... but let it wait a bit. Most AFV'ers (Away From Vendetta...ers) will be back when they have a few more people to fight.

As it stands, we rarely get fights. I couldn't stay top 5 with Shape cuz I just couldn't find dueling partners. Matriarch is still up there, but the only time She gets duels is from people with

LOL I'll duel ya anytime, Shape 'ol boy!
Wait... nevermind. My ranking's low enough as it is.

But, I like this idea. Perhaps the "value" of the duel degrades from 100% value at the 6 month mark down to 0% value at the 1-year mark.

no i completely disagree with this. the fact is that you people can get that high rating, just keep winning duels. Making it so that people who have been away are punished for that by making their accomplishment anything less than it is is wrong. you all should feel ashamed for thinking that because you no longer play, you should be forgotten.

Who cares about duel stats?

They've always been about as unreliable as the PK:death ratio.

If we had both an active and all time list then you would be satisfied?

Looking at page one of the duel stats I was wondering, if Martin never came back, is it possible for someone to ever score higher? I confess I don't know how the scoring works.

Granted this is from my point of view and I have no records to back this up...

Don't recall ever seeing:
Mists
Drahn Harala
Random Name
Destoras Ano
Marron Tol
Phaserdark
Kepler
Amarus

Don't recall seeing in 2006:
Eldrad
UncleDave
Apex Azimuth
?
Moriel Gilman
Mad_Max
Karr Soulblade
Iongar
Steel

Well anyway it was just thinking out loud. I expect some of these folk exist as alts.

Having a "Hall of Fame" and "Active Duelers" lists might be applicable in the future. But with the small and ever changing playerbase that we currently have and with plenty of AFVer's (to quote shape =) ) who may come back once the game evolves, it may be best to wait to adjust the duel system until the player base is larger and more solid.

/me admires his run-on sentence.

Hi csgno1

Drahn and Mad_Max are both me.

It's certainly possible for someone to get a higher duel score than I. All it takes is a very good run. For every duel you win above, say 2200, you may get 2 - 10 points. If you lose or draw one you can lose up to 100 iirc. Basically once you get up near there don't lose a match. It will take you 10 - 30 won matches in a row to make it back up. It's a bit of a problem actually because as you get higher up the lists there's far less incentive to keep duelling and it's more tempting to pick and choose your fights (more so than usual anyway)
