Power Cells for traders

I have your power cell right here. It has a recharge rate of 50, with a capacity of 100, and it only weighs 80,000kg. I'll be waiting for you in grey.

Look, there's no logical reason why a non-military, commercial pilot should need combat piloting experience. I enjoy playing as Vault, but it'd be much more enjoyable if I were allowed to buy and equip non-free batteries.

With enough mentor points you can buy the ultra charge power cell, which is the second best trade power cell.

I wouldn't mind have more selections of power cells, but traders don't need light weight power cells. Light wieght power cells are combat rated equipment, and should require combat licences.

Trader's Power Cell

Capacity: 260

Miner's Power Cell

See now you are finally getting it through your thick skull! Yes those are actually good suggestions. But a trader doesn't need that either actually,
IMO they should be something like

Trade Battery
Cap: 200
Recharge: 48
Weight: 450kg

The 48 means no infiniboost, but gives you 100secs of boost which should be enough, and the lower capacity means you refill it more or less just as fast as a normal FC (4.2 sec vs. 5 sec). So you can jump pretty fast. It is also clearly inferior to the standard FC which is a military grade equipment

A 270; 50 battery could potentially be overpowered in a rag, or even worse in a prom, even at 1500kg, which is why I think it's a bad idea, though 20 extra energy don't change all that much, but why would a miner need 270 energy? Mining beams consume nothing.

And really I don't see why are you so much against the idea? Wouldn't it make sense for nations to encourage traders? Even in blue space trading with a GovBatt sucks.

He's just not a good pirate ;P

I like the idea of a trader battery, but 100 eu is too small, for the reason given (can jump on in under 1 second). 200, or maybe 225 eu would fit the bill better. And a racing battery could be introduced, like the one SuperMegaMynt suggested, but it should be restricted to racing ships only (I'm not going to define The Racing Ship here, that's another discussion, suffice it to say that a racing ship is generally not a ship well suited for trading).

Why not just give it the capacity of 100, and require that it takes all 100 energy to jump sectors?

Gota admit, the 30% never made sense to me. I mean different ships should require diferent ammounts of energy, not % of powercell...

the 200/48 sounds nice.

they should make a power cell that is 300@48 that is dropped by bots so botters can sell it to traders.

YEAH! SOUNDS PERFECT!

You mean like the Hive FC?

YES! EXACTLY!

Which is already dropped...

the hive fast charge (hfc) power cell is not dropped. it's a unit of standard. your power cell can be slightly better than the hfc for trading, but should otherwise be significantly inferior.
