Orbits, Gravity, and Planets!

Nov 05, 2006 Jim Kirk link
Space isn't space without Gravity, Orbits and Planets. Ok we can "see" the 2d images of the planets, but what about making a couple of them Orbitable, Gravitational, and more realistic. I would love to jump near a planet and feel the effects of gravity on my Warthog Mk II, and realize I should put myself in orbit before my alt drops too low.

Guilds should be able to put Stations in orbit, or claim certain sectors of space and set up automatic defenses that, if defeated, will be claimed by the destroyer of it.

The "GRID" of each system should be constantly changing while it orbits around it's sun. The asteriods in all sectors should not all be stationary. New types of systems should be added, Blackholes, Neutron Stars, Binary and Tertiary solar systems with multiple suns orbiting eachother.

Fuel. Or, Limited Battery Life.

Top Speed of any ship shouldn't ever exist, acceleration should be the only factor when it comes to going fast.

I know it seems daunting, and I'm sorry for going on a roll. It's just that this game could be the best game I've ever played, or going to play but it's not. It's not the best game ever because it simply doesn't have enough realism, or activities.

Hey Kirk,
The game isn't to the point of perfection yet (Guild isn't even looking to advertise), but a lot of these ideas are in the works.

read the pinned threads at the top, this has all been suggested millions of times.

btw, kirk, here's something that took me almost two years to notice:

while you can't reach the planet (yet), they actually do rotate and also have an atmosphere (zoom in with 'i', you'll see).

so, they're not quite 2d.
