UIT participation in Itani/Serco events

Bear with me on this one. What I'm talking about would constitute a major nerfing of the UIT, so it's never going to happen, and there's no need for anyone to get all crazy about the idea.
Anyway...

It seems to me that the backstory dictates that UIT players should be unable to openly take sides in any kind of violent conflict between the Itani and the Serco.
I'm not suggesting that players meeting up should be somehow prevented from engaging in three-way battles, just that events like nation war and capture the cargo shouldn't include UIT players, and that UIT players should start to lose UIT standing if their standing with the other two factions becomes too unbalanced.

They're supposed to be more or less neutral in the war, and have delicate trade links with both nations that they don't want to jeopardise. Take for example their refusal to allow passage to Serco ships chasing Akanese attackers, and their claim that they would never allow Akanese forces to pass through their space if they knew about it.

And on the gameplay side of things, UIT players have a major advantage right from the outset in that they can go anywhere they want in the universe without being officially KOS.
From a purely gameplay point of view, it makes sense to at least have some form of handicap on them to balance this out. To this end, what makes the most sense to me is to have neutrality be a double-edged sword, rather than nerfing them in some other unrelated way.

So remember, this is unlikely to ever happen, the playerbase probably isn't big enough for the events to take such a hit to the number of eligible participants, and I probably haven't been playing this game long enough to fully understand the ramifications of what I'm suggesting.
I know all of this in advance, so please try to keep your flames on the topic of my actual ideas.

Faction change upcoming. UIT can only be liked.hated or neutral/neutral or some combination thereof. No more "ZOMG, all three POS! LOLZ!" I used to be one of those too.

CTC is a Dev-created event, they decided to allow the UIT to participate. Same for BS; for BP, the UIT pilot must be aligned to one nation and must enter an existing group, he cannot take mission on his own.

Nation War is a player-created event that has nothing to do with the Serco-Itani war, but rather is just a giant furball between the three nations. There have been other versions of it, like the old capship wars. You could talk to the current owner of it (I think it's slime73) but I doubt you'll get any results to exclude the UIT from it.

Finally, all pilots should be allowed to take sides in the War.

All pilots should be allowed to take sides; that is hardly determinative of whether those who wish to retain ties to the UIT should be allowed to take sides. Just like a Serco who raises Itani standing, those UIT who take sides should cease to be granted UIT aligned privileges.

As usual, you're a pathetic excuse for a rational being. Please strongly consider killself.

Lecter has left the game and now trolls here for fun. I don't see why a UIT pilot should lose priviliges with his nation for taking a side in the War, and that would be more of a faction system issue than the one discussed here.
