A different sniper weapon suggestion
I like sniper weapons. One of the common complaints is that they could be used to snipe people entering and exiting stations, since that's just about the only place one knows a player will pass through.
What if there were a very long range weapon that did more damage the further it traveled?
Imagine a sniper rifle that shot a 10m long cased projectile. A lead ball backed by a very narrow solid rocket booster shell. The boost would burn for 5-10s, the projectile would move as slow as an avalon when it launched, but the range might be 3000m or more. With exponential acceleration due to a constant propellant force and decreasing mass, it would do incredible damage if you scored a hit from a good distance, when it might be traveling 300m/s.

I think this is at least the third thread with variations on that suggestion.
As for the particular weapon you describe, my guess is that it wouldn't be effective against fighters beyond about 100m.
