Court System

Apr 05, 2007 Corvus News Attorney link
We request a functioning Court System to sue the appropriate people in.
We further request automated "Bot" judges, such as "Judge Joe Orun" or similar. 24/7 Access to automated non-appeal judgements would be of great benefit to me, my firm, and my clients.
Additionally, we also request automatic sentence enforcement by Corvus strikeforce pilots in Sunflare-shooting TD Warthogs.

Thank you for your consideration.

how would we give the judge the ability to determine who is innocent or not?

I don't know how it is in old country Delco, but in America people become adults at the age of 18. I can't vouch for Mecha but I assure you I meet that requirement.

Like they do in a lot of countries... how much either side pays them. :P

Any court system would be unnecessary would there be a higher-level nation-wide "guild".

Right now, guilds are pretty much contained groups but if there was a nation-level organization that could intervene in such matters, there wouldn't be a need for a court system.

Take the Nation Elections idea proposed a while ago. While people weren't too keen in being led by someone outside their guild, this would indeed provide a level at wich a responsible (and elected) nation gov system could handle a court system and act on punishment.

The exact extent to wich this gov entity can act upon was left open for debate (until the thread kinda derailed) but punishment (faction loss for one) could be envisioned.

Somehow, the Serco nation doesn't quite strike me as a Democracy. In fact, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they kept slaves.

We do. They're called Itani.
Apr 08, 2007 mgl_mouser link
No. The Serco would have a triumvirate. So 3 guys at the top.

Same for other nations. They'd simply be called something else. I'd imagine Presidents and VPs for UIT (3) and Sage & Head Monks for Itanis.

Abbots.

One in Eo, one in Itan and one in Divinia. The Abbot of Itan is the one at the top.

mgl_mouser: Why three leading people in the UIT? To match Itani & Serco?

SuperMegaMynt: Indeed, the Serco Dominion is an oligarchy. Not that I'm happy about it.

However, the argument that a democracy is not one if the citizens keep slaves is null and void, since the greek (who had the first democracy in recorded history going) kept slaves.
Apr 09, 2007 mgl_mouser link
Yep: to match other nations. One mechanics underneath it is simpler to maintain. Different names for RP reasons and continuity with the backstory.

Three people is small enough that it's manageable and ensures a no-tie vote count.
