typo and gun/port/key binding confusion

A couple days ago, I noticed one of the beginner missions had a misspelling: the word choosing (IIRC) was spelled chooisng. More importantly, I submitted a bug report inidicating I couldn't fire anymore. I figured out to fix it on the gun/port/binding screen; I didn't have anything bound to 1, 2, 3 or 4. The screen is a little confusing; I initially thought it was refering to keyboard keys 1, 2, 3 and 4 instead of mouse buttons. I still don't quite understand how I can easily buy a gun, have it installed/mounted/equipped to a port, press Esc and see that the Controls indicate LMBUTTON is assigned to fire, but still not be able to fire(?). Is it possible to change bindings outside of a docking station? Maybe there can be a warning if/when no weapon is bound? It was fustrating to get killed while tapping each of 5 mouse buttons wondering why the heck the game isn't registering anything as a fire.

It is possible to unbind all weaponry in one weapon group, I think. And if it is a bug, I'd call it a feature, since it creates the option of having a weapon safety (this has more uses than you would think).

Did the bug persist when you tried to reproduce it?

Also, this might be better off in Bugs.

I assume the 1 through 4 is referring to mouse buttons, but you use the term "weapon group"...is that different? I now have a ship with two small ports using plasma lasers bound to 1 and a large port missle launcher bound to 2. And it works like I want: LMBUTTON fires both plasmas and RMBUTTON fires a missle. I guess I don't see having an option for *all* weapons to be inoperable a "feature" or safety, especially if I have to try and outrun a hostile ship and dock to turn off the safety. I'm more likely to get back to the home station and have +1 death added to my stats.

you only have three fire buttons, primary, secondary and tertiary. Those are assigned different weapon slots in each of the weapon groups. You set up those groups in the station. 1 is your default firing group, and the others are activated using the number keys.

Thanks; I'll assign different weapon combos to the 1 through 4 keyboard keys and launch to test which mouse key does what in each weapons group.
