I just MP3s right now because my MOJO can't play ACC. Perhaps when TDK brings out a new MOJO that supports ACC, then I'll convert all my MP3s, that and ACC is tiny (data size wise) with good quality. I'll post up some info about ACC to bring you up to speed.

"AAC compressed audio at 128 kbps (stereo) has been judged by expert listeners to be “indistinguishable” from the original uncompressed audio source.*

AAC compressed audio at 96 kbps generally exceeded the quality of MP3 compressed audio at 128 kbps. AAC at 128 kbps provides significantly superior performance than does MP3 at 128 kbps.*

AAC was the only Internet audio codec evaluated in the range “Excellent” at 64 kbps for all of the audio items tested in EBU listening tests.*

OK im sold. Now i need to go get a new dBPowerAmp plugin to add AAC support, and go find a WinAmp AAC Input Plugin. I know there are a few, i just never grabbed them. Thanks Rabid.

*Even though i usually compress at 256kbps because i can usually tell the difference between it and 128kbps with OGG (very hard to do)

Interesting... The most recent report I read (I'll edit this with a link once I find it) said that in more than 60% of tests ogg vorbis outperformed AAC at equal bitrates sound wise... Whatever. Keep your propriatory formats, when you all get restricted by DMCA-type stuff don't look at me...

OGG is not proprietory.. its patentless and open source.
Give it time and it will elvolve to the point of lossless compression, im sure. They are also adding video into the OGG filetypes.

X0563511 - he was talking about AAC, which is quite proprietary. This is one reason I strongly prefer Vorbis for audio encoding.

By the way, i really dont care about restrictions and the fact your supposed to pay to encode. I can find my way around that stuff.

Not when it's built into the Pentium 5/Athlon something/Via whatever. It is supposed to be part of chips sooner or later, ya know. Hardware level. Ewww.... Palladium... Eww...
