Updated the fin, added some more basic detail to the texture map.
Let me know what you guys think:

Awesome. Nice work.
I do think the trimmed down fin not only looks better, and less ungainly but also covers the problem of flare fire.
That's looking very good, actually. Better than 99% of user-created models. No idea if it's good enough for Incarnate &c (having not seen the model itself), but it might be.
Suggestions:
* The cockpits in VO have a very distinct style. Either they're not there at all (see: EC series) or they're a very shiny blue with a weird specular map on them (see: everything non-Luis). I would advise picking one or the other. Although (this isn't something you can really do) it'd be cool if the new ice shaders could be modified and used for cockpits...
* What were you thinking for dynamically-colored areas? The striped patches that are currently blue-and-grey?

Hello,
For the color option areas I was thinking of using a portion of the wings, the underside fin and just under the upper fins ( in the open area ). The Blue and Grey has been toned down and not nearly as vibrant.
I'll have the alpha map for the colors done soon and will throw a few render up to show my ideas for that.
I still have to add the little details to the model that should make it really pop out.
Guess the real question comes down to if the devs want me to model for them and if the community likes what I have to offer.
Thanks,
Xico

Well, the devs had a very highly skilled graphic artist who did several of the ship designs we see in-game now. According the devs, despite his skill, getting his work in-game was more trouble than it was worth. The artist and the devs had a falling out because of this. Here is a thread where incarnate describes some of the problems they ran into.

If you can overcome some of those issues, maybe the devs would consider working with you. I'm not sure.

Hello,
Already read and modeled the ship with those guidelines in mind. I wont know for sure until i try, but I believe we will have little to NO issues when trying to import my model into the game.
I still have to add the fine details, create the alpha map for the "dynamic colors", add the helpers for the thrust/ports (in theory very easy, just a matter of testing and tweaking). But overall, the hard stuff is done.
I really can't say much more until the dev's speak with me and the community shows support. I don't want to waste anyone's time, yours' included.
Thanks,
Xico

I support any new content, especially when it is new ships.
Yeah, these look pretty good. Definitely keep up the good work, hopefully the devs can work these into the game.
Hello,
Time for some more updates. Added additional details to the mesh, fixed a few texture errors (3DS max was not using my bump map for the renders, problem is fixed and quality has improved drastically).
1) Still need to add Alpha channel for "Color-Options".
2) Add additional detail to make the mesh pop out.
3) Need to redo yellow "hazard" artwork, perhaps add border, thicker black and a bump layer to boot.
4) Would like the Dev's to chime in and give their input.
Here is the renders - CLICK on the pictures after loading for high quality.

I'm not sure about the "wear marks" you have there. I mean, they look awesome. But wouldn't it be weird to see a bunch of ships with these exactly identical damage marks in the same place at the same time? Just a thought...
I thought of that as well, will see what people feel like. I insured I kept a copy before and after the wear marks.
Every ship in the game currently looks the same anyway, with or without wear marks.
In my opinion, I think the extra detail (even if other ships have them) may be justified.
Guess we will see,
Xico

I agree with you, but the behemoth, warthog, and a couple other models currently in-game have the same issue, though not nearly as pronounced as this.
I would recommend doing the models without very much scoring or hull damage. The damage marks are a little overbearing, and if anyone's ship actually looked like that it would probably not handle correctly anymore, if at all : p

Excellent work, Xico. I hope the devs can look into putting models ingame.
I agree about the whole 'hull damage' thing.. make it less noticable. But otherwise it's awesome.

Today's plan:
1) Redo the yellow "hazard" textures
2) Reduce hull damage, but add more wires to give a deeper/more noticeably effect.
3) and small rust spots, and metal frame support within hull damage.
4) Add fine detail layer to enhance overall graphics quality.
Renders will be up in next hour or two.
Thanks,
Xico

I would say to keep the wear marks out, but instead give the "beaten up" feeling by making the player customizable color maps scratched up and beaten, a lot like the EC-89, the revenant, or the raptor.
when the devs contact you, please let us know what the situation is, because I am looking forward to seeing your stuff ingame.
Here is some new renders.
1) Still need to add more detail
2) Possible fix the under fin so it's not so bulky (width wise)
3) Add alpha maps for "in game colors"
4) Tweak the hull damage colors/wires and add metal support frames.
Here are the bright renders -> Images will be slightly blurry due to JPG file format and free hosting.

These are freaking amazing! I'd love to see these in-game soon :-D
They are very nice Xico, but I wonder what happened to the frieghter looking ship?
The ship I am looking at looks to be a fighter like ship.
Nahin Lor
But it looks like an awesome medium fighter. :)
