Active Players List

The verdict among the players seems to be a unanimous yes to change the active players list to only list the number of the players of each nation and not the specific people active unless they are buddies or guild mates (already listed in the "Player Guilds" links). Can we get some dev response, now?

It's all about timing.

Not unanimous. I have a few misgivings about totally abolishing the APL. But never mind, advantages seem to outweigh the disadvantages.

That would be also known as making an informed decision Tosh :) You are therefore included in the unanimity!

I don't think I've actually said this in as many words yet, so: Yes Please.

Better immersion ftw. Off with active player list.
On the other hand, how about putting this to a test.
Take apl off for a month and see what happens.

Good idea, I like temporary solutions; my only fear is that they my become a providurium instead of a provisorium.

I'm for removing it, if at least temporarily.

Limiting it to numbers of players from each nation seems a reasonable compromise, and good from an RP point of view.

I agree in removing it. A better way would be to just show graphs of online players (showing total numbers per faction). I remember seeing a graph somewhere, but I forget where.

Yes, this has been planned for awhile. I just keep getting distracted. The intent is to replace the online list with our own internal graphs.

Again, let it be done! Could it really take that long to turn off the whatever-it-is that runs the list and IRC bot?
Sep 15, 2009 Snax_28 link
I think it probably has more to do with the effort to implement the element that will replace it.

i dont think anything needs to be replaced, just removed, it already shows how many of each nation is online.

Could it be that maybe they're currently too busy with what they're working on right now, and have learned not to be derailed by the shifting whims expressed in these forums? He's said they'll change it - let them decide when.
