Unscheduled large scale events

I suggest that once in a great while (maybe twice or thrice per month) a large event could be initiated that would precipitate the banding together of all the logged in players on a team. This will foster more team-spirit, more sense of "who-knows-what-comes-next", drama, historical milestone, etc.

The only event I can think of that would fit this is some kind of mega bot-invasion where the server spawns about 3 times the number of active players from a given team and sends them, possibly in set of waves, to capture the flag or "attack" the station, or drop off a super-nuke that would destroy every ship in the sector, or something similar in the home sectors all at once. As long as there was a mix of difficulties for the bots, it seems reasonable that all members of the team can select a target to work on and thus contribute to the "holding of the front". If the bots are succesfully repeled before acheiving some goal, some kind of lesser monetary reward might be awarded (as per flag capture, but significantly less) as a symbol of victory.

In order to prevent a colossal exploit (flag capture while they are busy with the bots), it may be neccesary to conduct the event simultaneously for each nation.

Seems this would be very possible since bots will soon be able to cross over sectors. I'm sure you could even go as far as making armada's of ships instead of a "Art of Defense" situation. I would really like to see a frigate or two come into a sector and it swarm out a bunch of bots from it's docking bays and all the sudden your radar turns completely red, but most of the bots die within a few hits, but deal quite a bit of damage to you. Since this was the case of most mass produced things, really weak but can do a lot of damage if the scientists spend the time to develop the weapons. Perhaps there would be a few aces that would be harder to hit and would rip through their own ships to kill the enemy. That would be cool.
