Bots shouldn't have eyes in the backs of their heads
If you shoot at a bot from behind, it dodges just like when you shoot at it from the front. It shouldn't start being evasive until you actually hit it, and when you do, it shouldn't dodge as if it knows exactly where the shots are coming from.
+1, I mentioned this long time ago and agree that this AI feature looks weird. On the other hand, the harder -- the better ;)
its automated, why wouldnt it have a rear viewing camera?
The hive I can understand being able to do this, as with the robot transports.
The station guards, strike force, and military NPCs also do this though. They're supposed to be "human" pilots, and that doesn't make that much sense.

I agree this should be for all the 'pseudo-players', but I think it would be a PITA to implement.
-1, leave as is.
they can be surprise if they are not engaging anyone. Once in "combat mode", it uses radar to detect "ordnance".

"It shouldn't start being evasive until you actually hit it"
I disagree with what you wrote, though I don't believe that what you wrote is what you actually meant. It can see you coming close via radar and begin to fly more erratically in case you try to shoot. But this is just being evasive, not dodging specific shots.
As for actually dodging incoming fire, we as players can't look behind us very well. However, if this were real, we could see behind ourselves just fine. It would be retarded not to. We would have either a rearview mirror(s) or a rear-facing camera. Plus, in many ships we could just turn our heads. Serco might not even need to do that - and perhaps the more highly sensitive of Itani could sense behind themselves as well.

They have cars that can parallel park themselves. There is no reason to think a bot would only have forward scanning sensors.
In fact, I suspect if the human race makes it to space warfare, that our ships will have auto dodging software that responds to threats from any quarter. However, with the exceptional demonstration of stupidity from current world leadership, I'm probably wrong.
