Mine IFF and despawning

I like to think about VO in 3 terms in this order:

1. What makes sense based on the technology available to the Universe
2. What makes sense in terms of balanced fun gameplay
3. What makes sense in terms of developer resources and time

Technologically, these changes to mines make sense. In a universe with wormholes and faster than light travel, group aware mines would be simple.

In terms of balance, it would change combat dynamics, but not in a bad way. Mines are feared in RL combat because they live for years undiscovered. So it would become an advantage not just to defenders of stations but also to pirates who camp a WH, possessors of a station, convoy hunters and straight up furball combatants.

In terms of dev resources, I dunno, they'd have to comment. I'm sure they'll say it's tons of work, but really that's because their code is lackluster to begin with and they never get anything useful done anyway.

Right, time to resub and kill scores of Android players who won't stick around much past combat level 2...

I actually like this idea, the mines are not terribly hard to destroy, stingrey's fly pretty straight, and i think they go out past 3km. also, one ship zooming by can drop a proximity mine and take the lot of them out.

also could it become possible for mines to be targetable again? that should placate any fears of them becoming too imbalenced.

another thing that would be cool is if mines could be pushed, and had no thrusters to stop them from drifting, getting a running start from many kilometers out and letting loose a mine, letting it drift twards whatever would be kinda cool. or possible concatapulting them at things (kinda hard to aim but sounds fun)

+1 to adding group-based IFF to mines
+1 to making mines targetable too.

Hive and other NPCs go totally apeshit when there's mines around and blow them up in seconds. Real players should be able to target them too. (same goes for missiles actually...)

A New special manufactured mine might be interesting.

Larger in physical size and targetable
Very Heavy
Large port

Costly to produce
No Reloads

Keyed to group IFF if dropped while in group
Only shows as a mine on friendly radars.

Large proximity area - 300 meters?
Large detonation area and damage on par with avalons
