Player entered sector .....
With all the differing load times I think it would be better if the player entered sector event was triggered after the player finishes loading or very close to the end of that process.
I would also like to see load times normalised a bit so that slow loading players are not overly penalised.

Why the first part? If they are in the sector reading sector chat there should be a notification that this is the case.
I'm empathetic to the sentiment of the second one but artificial delays can get pretty frustrating. So I don't know.

Yeah, -1 on the normalizing load times. I dont want to wait around for someone else's slow junker of a computer. If your hdd is slow, preload. I do.
Changing when the event triggers is a good idea though.

Fuck that bullshit.

How would this affect anything but lazy lua coders who don't want to write additional code to check when a player actually enters the sector?
It effects how much lead time the other players get over the player entering the sector. At the moment there is a 10 to 20 second delay between when the sector is notified and when then player entering can actually do anything. I do not mind a few seconds but 20 seconds is an eternity that can give the players in sector time to react.
I would not want the load times completely evened out, however having a broadband connection should not give players an undue advantage either. Establishing a short minimum jump time would help keep things a bit more even for everyone.
This would not have any effect on the Lua coders - Lazy or otherwise.

React to...what, exactly? A randomized jump in point that has no way to be preemptively pinpointed? A randomized wormhole exit? Say mean words before the player can protect their delicate feelings?
I'd like to think your suggestion has merit, or is at least debatable, but I'm not tracking what you're actually trying to achieve here. What is the exact problem that uneven load times cause, especially when one can drastically speed up load times by preloading sector textures?
