Manufacturing change: Manufacture from station cargo.
Great work! Good job!
Now for the reason for this bottle of whine.
Suggestion: Have the client offer an option to manufacture from cargo items in the player station cargo storage. Restricted to items in the current station.
Benefits:
Speeds the production of complex items. For example, I have all the required materials interspersed among thousands of cu of items in my station cargo for a mission. How many trips out of the launch bay and into the docking bay do I need to make to load these items into the manufacturing mission.
8 Fused Composite Platings
25 Fluid Formable Silksteel Alloy
16 Hydraulic Tappets
16 Premium Ishik Ore
8 Heliocene Ore
22 Lanthanic Ore
16 Data Link Connectors
250 Coolant
4 Energy Conversion Modules
90 Power Regulators
22 Synthetic Hydrocarbons
50 Premium Xithricite Ore
180 Premium Ferrite Ore
8 Synthetic Silksteel
240 Premium Carbonic Ore
Ahh, made you look. Just an example.
I've made the trips, mining, trades, alliances and combat necessary to get the items.
I've stockpiled materials to get the work done when I need to do it. Why the extra trips?
It's like loading the items from your refrigerator into your car, backing out of the driveway, driving around the block and parking your car in the driveway just to make breakfast. And do it again for each serving.
It's probably a great idea, but a non-trivial one to implement.
It may not be that hard either..
I know, you have 500 items to do and all of them due yesterday and only have enough time for 50.
Thanks

This is a Good Idea(TM)
It's already implemented for the Scrap Yard mission, which makes harvesting scrap metal from things like Border Skirmishes actually worth the trade XP.

Seems so logical that is almost unbeliveable that it isn't already like that. Maybe demands that you load it to your ship, but *not launch* to work, just loading is enough.
Or a button "Use goods in station's storage".

+ a whole lot
It would be a big improvement.
Some of the manufacturing missions will mean that players have large local inventories. I would even suggest adding a list of local stock on the mission screen along the lines of :
Needed for mission local stock
10 silksteel 15
10 ferric ore 12
So that you can check you have all the goods locally before accepting the mission.
Really, Computers should do the adding up these days ...

Yes, this is definitely something we need to address. And preferably in a way that's logically backwards compatible with the existing Manufacturing missions.
Quick and dirty workaround:
-Add a button to "Check local storage vs Mission requirements"
-Add another button to "Use locally stored items".
Better implementation:
-Mission description shows the required amounts vs. locally available resources.
-Add a button to "Use locally stored items".
Ideal implementation (dreaming...)
-Also allows Guilds to take these missions, and accept items from any Guild member.

+1 Inc you should also think about creating in-station item trade between players possible, would be exceptionally helpful for trades between guilds as different players run out of different things. Also helpful for trades between players with hostiles outside!
-1 to bottom_feeder, unless a steep tariff is added to any in-station goods transferral. Trade is supposed to be dangerous.
