Reduce Trident Type M turbo drain to 45
The subject says it all. Reduce the Trident Type M turbo drain to 45/sec
This big thing has it's own power reactor. There's no reason it should have to drain so fast in order to maintain turbo speed. This would allow infiniturbo on a heavy power cell and make carrying a Teller-Ulam mine in it's only large port feasible.

Agreed.
Have the Type M stats been posted anywhere? The wiki just shows the ports.

They havent been posted yet, at this point ORE is keeping it rather closely guarded (understandably), i doubt they want to give everything away while they're still the only target out there
I asked CD yesterday which is how I found out the turbo drain is 50/sec.
Thinking about this further, I don't get why the darn thing shouldn't infiniturbo on a free power cell. It's got it's own reactor.

Uhhh why does it even need a powercell? And how would a fighter powercell be anywhere near good enough for a capital class ship, considering the size difference.
The entire port architecture needs to be expanded on for cappies. I understand that one of the major ways Inc & co. got them in-game was by using existing resources such as the player turrets from moths & altlases, the standard powercell port, and a paltlry 1 large port for a main cannon. IMHO vo needs to add one or even two more sizes of each type of port, as you would not want to add player weaponry like the capital gauss cannon and capital Gauss Turret to vo and have an atlas armed with both.
i.e. The 200mw reactor should be an add-on, in a new port type, so they can't be put on small ships, and upgradeable when more reactors are build-able. Gonna drop a HAC engine in there, go drag racing...

Preventing capital class weaponry from being used in fighters could be done without new weapon-port classes. Instead, give them grid requirements of 20+ each, and have trident powercells provide correspondingly huge grid limits. That way capships could equip normal weapons as well if they wanted to for some reason, e.g. for weapons that don't have a capital equivalent.
That doesn't address gridless stuff like rockets - maybe just have them be very heavy so that if a normal ship wants to be a sitting duck and equp a capital jackhammer they can. Or give them a large but not-as-large grid and excuse it as being for the automated loading systems, since the rounds would be pretty massive.
Would still need a new powercell port though, to have a separate class of capital ship powercells/reactors to provide that large grid. That, or have multiple powercell ports that have their grids added together.

Capships should have a drain considerably higher than conventional ships, maybe something like a drain of 100. Likewise they should use heftier power cells than conventional ships. I don't have an issue with the drain being lower than the charge provided by the power cell.
Similar to Pizzasgood's argument for grid, scaling up the drain/charge would also allow for conventional weapons to have less of an impact on drain.

These are all good suggestions, especially once capital class weaponry exists, but at the moment it doesn't. I suggested this as a near-term improvement.
to be more "realistic" the turbo power drain for a cappie should be 10 times more then an xc so 500 would be apppropriate. The battery should also be adjusted to match.
So a cappie Fast charge should be about 500 recharge with a 2500 capacity that all the weapons draw from.

Just a side note, rockets are not "grid less" they I fact have a grid usage of 4, like most standard weaponry
endercp12, just a side note, are you perfect flower? :)
You're missing an article there big guy.... I believe you mean to say are you A perfect flower? I am however, not sure exactly what you mean, as even corrected it makes very little sense. The rockets have grid usage was directed at Rin's statement that they would need to be excessively heavy to counteract what happens to be a non-existant issue.
Thank you, I must have remembered incorrectly. I don't use rockets often.
any reason tridents couldn't use banks of batterys? this would allow alot of customization and also eliminate the need for more new addons being added, say it can use up to 10 batterys or something.
like, one for each engine, another for turrets and a fourth for life support? Overly complex, and anti-RP. Why does capship manufacturing requires a full reactor?
For me, cappies should not use Power Cells of any kind, instead using the power provided by its reactor.
So, maybe if you provide a "Small Reactor" your cappie leaves without shields, and if you provide a "Large Reactor" the cappie could use shields...
