Semi-mass based system

Sep 21, 2003 Pyro link
Vendetta should use a mass-based system for outfits and cargo, like the one in the EV series. Example:

Centurion: 20 tons weapons space, 5 tons cargo space (1 small gun port)
Ragnarok: 100 tons weapons space, 50 tons cargo soace (3 small gun ports, 2 large gun ports)
Centaur: 50 tons weapons space, 100 tons cargo space (1 small gun port, 2 large gun ports)

If I wanted a really fast Centurion, but one that was weak, I could take out some of the armor and swap it in for some structural support beams (see the "hyperspace" thread). If I wanted more weapons space on my Ragnarok, I could buy an upgrade to convert 15 tons of cargo space to 10 tons of weapons space. If I wanted more cargo space on my Centaur, I could buy some cargo pods (15 tons weapons space to 10 tons cargo space). Also, this would make it easier to do things like customized inertia (e.g. it changes depending on how much you load up your ship). Not to mention it requires a bit more strategy to decide what kind of loadout you want on your ship...

Pyro? I don't mean to nitpick, but your large weapons slots weigh the same as a small weapons slot, or less.

Wha? No, they're completely unrelated to mass. It's like in EV*, where you have gun and turret slots. You can have up to 3 small guns and 2 large guns at a time on the Ragnarok, for example. The "weapons space" is used for outfits in general (including batteries, engines, etc.).

Ughh... another, "it should be like EV" post.

/me shakes his head.
