seriously:
the devs did not mention new ships yet, did they? afaik, they are working at full speed on the economy/mission system.

Some of the current ship designs are really cool. I hope that they "update" some of the models rather than starting from scratch. If they're planning on keeping some of the older models and updating them, here are a few of my suggestions...

Centurion--This is a really cool light fighter that could look much better if some portions of it were changed. The bubble cockpit is a bit bland and could use a more streamlined design. The engines also appear to be too big or too close together or something.

Vulture--Another cool fighter concept. The wings are a tad too big and impractical for a space environment. If they were trimmed down a bit they would look more streamlined and cool-looking. The entire ship itself appears very flat and 2Dish, but that may be due to the long wings.

Warthog--Badass medium fighter with a gatling turret. Everything about it looks cool, but the poly count is on the low side. The engine area could also be slimmed down a bit to give it a more streamlined look. Tapered engine nozzles may make it look better. The wings in the rear view also appear to be thick near the fuselage. A little bit of beveling should solve that easily.

Hornet--My favorite ship. Looks like a futuristic miniature Concorde turned into a fighter. The wings and tail fins look a little too thick in some areas (namely in the rear view) and could use some slimming down. The engine design is too boxy and simple. Maybe if there was a more refined and curved nozzle like the one found on the Valk it would look better.

Ragnarok--Very cool bomber ship design. The bubble cockpit looks a tad too big for its scale and the spoilers behind the ship don't seem all that necessary. It might look cooler without the spoilers, but with the tail fins instead.

Atlas--A cool concept for a shuttle or transport ship, but I think it's obvious what needs to be done, hehe. It would look really cool if the corners were smoothed down and the bottom portion of the ship had some type of bulge to it, like a C-5 Galaxy fuselage. The flight deck can be elevated a little higher to give it the appearance of a light cargo vessel.

Anyway... even if they're dumping all the 3.1.x designs (except Promy), I think Waylon will come up with a lot of cool new ship designs. I just hope new designs will be released soon to replace some of the current outdated models (even it's one or two new ships). Or at least some kind of teaser will suffice. I'm just dying to know what they'll look like! VLAD!!!!!!!

The Atlas should replace the current bus model, which is REALLY, REALLY old.

I agree, the bus sucks. I understand it's a free ship and all, but how can you stand not laughing at it? Hehe! MOOOO!!!

If the old ship models aren't going to be updated in a long while, may I suggest that Waylon slap some of those generic weapon port models on to every ship's wings and fuselage? Like how it was modified for the bus and special ships. I can't imagine it to be very hard or time consuming at all.

Although most of the ships look like they weren't designed to hold those external weapon port models in place, a little overlapping could take care of that. Just a partial overlap of the weapon's barrel can indicate that the weapons are internally stored or something. I dunno. It's all about the details.

=D~

The Atlas is actually older than the EC-88.

Yeah, but it looks newer. Yes, I do remember that I complained very heartily in 3.1.x to get the Blue Medium (now known as the "Atlas", then known as the "Transport") replaced. But it's better than the Red Heavy (now known as the "EC-88" then known as something else).

uh...? the red heavy in 3.1.x (late) was called prometheus, methinks.

It was the bus earlier, though.

I happen to like the "bus" design. It reminds me of my old '67 Volkwagan Transporter (also known as a "bus" appropiatly enough)

I always called it the "Shaggin' Wagon."
