Stop Auto-Creating Accounts and not telling Players what it is

Lots of F2P players don't know what their username and/or password is because the game auto-created it and doesn't tell them what it is.. Unless there's some other way I haven't thought of, you can't get the username/password for PC play.

Seriously, this sucks. I've seen at least a dozen newbs get all upset when they think they have to start over AFTER deciding that you guys deserve their money because this game is cool enough to pay for.

I thought the game was supposed to already include some mechanism for revealing this information or otherwise converting the account into a normal one? Maybe it just needs to be made more obvious.

Does this still work?:

The challenge is helping new people "convert" their account so they know their login and password. On mobile we auto-create the account, because on those platforms it's all about the minimum time to gameplay, and no one ever wants to "sign up" for anything. So, mobile players have to later "convert" their account in Options, which lets them pick their permanent login and password.

We're still trying to figure out the right way (in the UI) of streamlining that process, and informing new people about it. We trigger conversion on certain things, like Lite Sub and so on (needed to play cross-platform at present), but it still needs to be improved.

It has always been possible to convert an auto-created account into one that can used on the PC, or other devices (defining the password, etc). It's actually required if you try to do an in-app purchase.

What we don't currently do is force people to do it for free accounts, or constantly bug them to do it, the way other games do (SuperCell, etc). We're going to start automatically bugging free players about converting, in-game.

Yes, we're highly aware of the issue, since we're the ones fixing accounts all the time, and moving characters for confused mobile users.

Yes, it works, but it's a little counter-intuitive as it presently exists. An unconverted account has the button to convert the account labeled "Signup". A converted account also has a "Signup" button that lets you create a new account.
