Give us an Odia-Deneb WH.

i'm suggestin this straightway. smittens has reminded me of this in another debate and i think its a great way to connect the 2 supposed main PvP places in the 'verse. Make a WH from Odia to Deneb. it doesnt only connect, it also offers new trade routes, a Special place for priacy to flourish etc. easy fix!

(if it disturbs you with the map, take a second look, UIT space could just be switched with grey, so grey is in the middle for the new conenction to look more beautiful. nothing would change)

Doesn't even have to be a WH, because I recall that those are kind of a major thing to add/update/move

But we need ANY KIND of fast travel between the two zones. Ideally something that would let Serco-supporters go to GR, and Itani to Deneb (or Eo, to help offset their supposed distance-imbalance) It may be the oldest suggestion in the book (well besides walk-in-stations :D) but we STILL need it!

-1 since everyplace is accessible via hound in 15 minutes
Jan 13, 2015 smittens link
That's exactly the problem. What other video game makes you spend 15 minutes of downtime if you want to switch game modes?
Jan 14, 2015 csgno1 link
Smittens, by that logic why not just have every system directly accessible from every other? This is not a game with different built-in 'modes'
Jan 14, 2015 greenwall link
By that logic we should have an arena!

+1 to connecting connecting all systems to an arena connected to all systems.

We don't need an arena. Arena kills open-world PVP.

Tarren Mill and Southshore used to be a thriving (epic) open world pvp area in WoW, before all the battlegrounds and arenas. It was our Edras or Sedina. With the enclosed PVP environments, open world PVP dried up.

+1 to OP. This is something we've asked for a long time. Note that I think it should connect directly to deneb, and after that people can go to a barracks station.

(I would personally prefer bractus to odia as Odia already has an important role, while bractus is more or less flyover territory, but that's a nitpick... )

(of course also:
- give serco a station on the GR - deneb WH
- add conq stations to deneb
- allow UIT to participate in deneb without hurting standing with either opponent
- add a mechanism to create fair fights, either limit mission participation to N per side, or give greater rewards for joining the 'underdog')

If Deneb was connected to Odia, it might finally be an opportune time to introduce an unaligned faction and/or pirate faction of some type that has a presence near this wormhole.

-1.

A direct connection to Odia is completely absurd. There should be at least a couple intermediate systems, preferably more.

Pizzasgood, space doesn't need to get bigger. But, if instead of entire systems, it could require 2 or more hops with the wh's at the hops 3500m apart in an asteroid system, that could be fun. Especially when there are ion storms present.

csgno1, No sir that is not what my logic says :P My logic is thusly:

1. VO's universe is still too big for the current playerbase

2. The most fun and active combat areas are the middle of gray (Sedina/Latos) and Deneb

3. It takes ~15 minutes to get between these two places

4. As long as the large majority of the action in VO is concentrated to these two areas, we need a quicker way to get between them

Hence, I don't think intermediary systems (as Pizza is suggesting) or any huge permanent fixes are necessary. I kind of like the layout of the universe, and once there are things happening in more places, the travel time won't really be an issue. It won't be 15 minutes of boredom and travel, but rather 15 minutes of passing other potential activities that you can ignore or get sidetracked by.

Imagine if GTA or Red Dead had the same city/centralized locations they have now, but there was NOTHING but empty road connecting them. It would be boring as shit to get between areas, and just plainly bad gameplay. But they have tons of little side things and organic/dynamic events along the way to keep you interested. Even if your goal is to drive from one end of the map to the other and not get distracted, the presence of so many little things makes it more interesting than a 15 minute loading screen.

So, as has been CLAMORED for as long as Deneb was a place to do business, I think in the game's current state we still desperately need a highway between these two areas. No need for new wormholes or systems or features, because we won't need them forever. But while VO action is centralized in two areas separated by 15-minutes of uneventful travel, we need another way to get between them

This is obviously not a game with built-in modes, but that is functionally close to what we have at the moment. Action is sparse enough, but there are two locations where it usually happens organically. To separate those locations by a 15 minute loading screen is just absurd

Not a WH, but just connect those 2 systems with 2-3 'systems' which each consist of a single sector. You can put asteroids and ion storms or fog in them too if you'd like.
Jan 14, 2015 smittens link
ANYTHING! Specifics don't matter!

We just need a way to avoid or minimize the 15+ minutes of uneventful travel that is required to switch between the two most active theaters in this game.

The reason I suggested single sector systems is that moving from Odia (or gray in general) to Deneb would be like running a gauntlet. It'd generate a reason for fighting for anyone who wanted to move between the 2 major systems, and it's not like someone could just jump away into empty space to escape. Each of those 2-3 'systems' is effectively a WH sector, including the 2 on each end. If THAT doesn't get all these people's PvP panties in a bunch, nothing will.
Jan 14, 2015 biretak link
Keller and smittens, that was what I was trying to suggests, a series of single sector systems. The single sector system in the middle could be the arena system greenwall wants that is subject to surprises.

+1 to the several sectors between odia/bractus and deneb. All the wh campers would have more high traffic wormholes to camp and more trade routs would open up, as well as some hopefully rich ore deposits. This could make the entire dynamic shift and create a lot of interesting interaction.

Or just interconnect Serco and Itani sectors more to reduce the number of jumps. Better yet, eliminate about half of the Itani and Serco systems.
