Behemoth XC - UIT Variant

Feb 17, 2015 Sieger link
The Itani and Serco have all these fancy Versions of their ship only they can buy. UIT have the Raptor UDV. But everyone can buy UITs lower class Raptors. So I propose: Give the UIT another nation specific ship! This time, make it an exclusive cargo hauler.

Behemoth XC - UIT Variant (purchaseable at UIT stations at 800+ UIT):

Armor: 8000
Cargo: 280
Weapons: None
Mass: 31000kg
Length: 34m
Thrust: 300 N
Turbo Thrust: 550 N
Max. Speed: 60 m/s
Spin Torque: 14 Nm
Turbo Speed: 150 m/s
Turbo Energy: 50/s
Level requirements: -/-/-/9/6

Very thin armor and obviously rubbish turning and speed abilities giving this special XC 80 more cargo space than it's available-for-all model. A fair approach, I would say. A fancy ship for the UIT.

-1. Plenty of moths. Use an XC or a dent.

There were several suggestions a long while ago for mini-capships with high cargo (400-800), maneuverability and armor between that of a moth and a trident, some turrets and weak shields. That would be better, but it's longer term since there's a lot more dev time involved. We don't need more behemoths though.

If its model is also stretched slightly wider, then +1. Otherwise, no.

* Increase license levels to -/-/-/12/6.
* The model should be wider as pizza said
* Cargo space reduced to 240cu

Then I would find this acceptable. 280cu is way too OP.

I don't object to the general idea, but this is clearly something that would make trident building easier- particularly for trident owners- effectively giving trident owners an additional 480 cu capacity.

tarenty - Yeah we have plenty of Moths. And really, I would have suggested an all-new ship for the UIT. But we both know the devs really don't have the time/ressources right now to implement a completely new ship. That's why I made it easy and suggested using an old ship...

Pizzasgood - Sure! That's okay. I thought giving it 8k armor and making it turn like a rock made it pretty impossible to miss it. But that's okay aswell! Really, making it larger won't matter anymore then. So fine, do it!

joylessjoker - I'm good with point 1&2, but not so much with 3... The UIT need a damn good ship. The Itani have a damn good fighter, not just a very good fighter. The Serco have a damn good tank, not just a very good tank. The UIT need a damn good hauler.

Fluffy - I didn't really think about Trident building. Of course it will be used for it. But it will also be used for trading and offer a significant advantage. And that's exactly what I intended and will not step back from :P

Then why not propose a version of the xc that has better stats all around and maybe some experimental shields? This thing sounds like the last hauler anyone would choose to haul anything valuable in. When I haul something, I try to pick the safest hauler for the job and risks involved, not the easiest for the pirate to kill. I'd still prefer something better between the dent and the behemoth.

The OP isn't a bad suggestion, but I don't think it does enough to address the problem of UIT not being unique enough (see discussion here: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/29436 )

In other words, Itanis and Serco would not be jealous of a larger capacity moth to the same extent that UIT is jealous of the Valk and Prom.

If we somehow truly had cargo pods as couplable components as the Maud was supposed to be, that would be VERY unique indeed.

I would agree however that the OP proposal isn't really unique enough. In fact, given the drop in armor and thrust suggested (and the subsequent addition of space that implies), I would expect a hold capacity of 300, not 280. This being said, I'm not really sure I'd be trying to haul stuff in this thing. I probably spend fully half my time online in an XC (and the hauler in me would relish the idea of a bigger hold), but this thing wouldn't even be able to out run the free EC-89, which is not going to endear it to anyone, especially with only a 40% increase in hold capacity.

Personally, I'd rather see turret or LPort mountable equipment which offsets the weapons being introduced which are intended solely to keep a hauler from escaping.
