Give more meaning to the Guild tab

1. Allow full listing of the guild members, when you are in the guild with the same stats that appear on the guild website.

2. Allow unguilded players to apply to established (active) guilds using the In-game Guild tab. Each (active) guild should have the same description as on the guildinfo page on the website. All relevant information is sent to the guild's leadership (council and above), and able to be seen as an "Applicant"

+1 to both though I would add a sort option to the member list based on player activity so that players who haven't logged on in over a month get listed below recently active players. For the second part of the suggestion, I would have the commander / lieutenants set who is able to see the applicants. Guilds may want more or less than some default setup.

The information shown when an applicant applies should be his levels, his alignment and possibly his PK Counter to see what activities he has been into before he applied or if he's new etc.

Just show the entire character tab, the same as if you'd targeted him and hit k.

The only guilds that really survive are the guilds that maintain this outside of the game. We would see far more guilds if this were an in-game mechanic. More guilds is a good thing in my eyes.

So often in 100 or 1, you see "how can I join a guild" and it's not actually as easy as they'd think. This addition would make it easier to apply to and join guilds. Especially for tablet and phone players since they cannot always get out of the game to go on a forum or whatever.

I should clarify that I agree this is a needed functionality, however I question bringing this up for the devs to implement.

What's wrong with building a plugin for this functionality? Why force the devs to waste their time on this crap? Don't you want them to work on new content instead of refining existing things? Kierky you of all people often complain that devs don't release new content fast enough.

Pizzasgood, didn't you write a plugin that queries the guild page and passes the parsed information from it into the game? This plugin can be reasonably expanded to include applying for guilds.

The problem with the plugin solution is getting mobile noobs to install it.

The challenge of teaching noobs to install plugins is not too out of reach. We've done it before, and we'll continue to improve our teaching technique in the future. It's wiser to work with what we have as much as possible, freeing up time and resources for devs to work on new content. Don't you want trident types S and P coming out ASAP?

This will bring more players together, fighting for the same goal. More participation is a good thing. I'd rather see this, than the other tridents. You have a way of trying to make topics about something else. If you agree with the functionality, then why not +1 it?

-1ing an idea because you don't want them to work on this over tridents is silly. We need less plugins, and more basic functionality built into the client. Plugins are NOT the solution for everything.

Sorry, I'm still -1ing it because I believe this is not as urgent as other tangible, real new content. New trident types are just one example. Things like constructable player-owned stations and a revamped dynamic player-driven economy system are more likely to improve player retention in the long run.

You all heard TRS loud and clear. He left the game simply because there wasn't anything left to do. Improvements to guild functionality wouldn't have kept him, but the new content that I named would have. Again, I'm not disputing that better guild functionality isn't needed, or that plugins are the solution to everything. Nope, not everything should be a plugin. I agree wholeheartedly that it would improve player interaction and participation. However it's wiser to implement THIS one as a plugin, to keep devs focused on the things that would really make a difference for player retention in the long run.

I don't know why you accuse me of going off the track, because I'm simply going straight to the heart of the matter. Player retention. Player retention is what leads to success of VO.

+1 But, in the meantime, maybe someone could add this function to something that many could find useful and easy to install, like TGFT Utilities, like joylessjoker suggested.
