Capship vs. capship configuration

Jul 19, 2015 VikingRanger link
We are all fairly familiar with how turrets are a relatively effective means by which a capship can deter small fighters, however the ability of a capship to represent a real threat to another capship in VO is somewhat lacking (excluding Terradons). I propose that some future capship, be it a Trident variant or perhaps the HAC, have three or four L-port weapon slots on each side that could be fired in volley, much like the old naval battles of the era of sailing ships. This is not an original idea, as other sci-fi franchises have aptly illustrated, such as Star Wars and Battlestar Gallactica. I would be interested to see what people think.

Why not just have 2-3 forward firing L-Port Weapons, and 2-3 Broadside Firing Weps?
This'll turn the HAC and the Trident into an Anti-Capship Spacecraft.

Just a suggestion, but ignore if you want.

I can already kill your trident with my trident if I have 2 gunners.

This game holds more promise than any other (mobile by mean), Maybe somewhere in the near future there could be a number of large cruisers npc or buildable, Vendetta Online could use some capship destroyers, and more capships. As we all know the hac is a capship destroyer as is the terradon not yet can be built by players hands, but we see cool examples by the deneb wars. And bringing the gunner part of vo back as with buyable large heavily armoured freighters but you know, it's the games progress and I'm highly caffeinated.

Are we? I'm pretty familiar with how horribly ineffective they really are against small fighters. Especially fast ones like the Corvus Greyhound, Valkyrie X-1, Serco Vulture Guardian, Centurion Superlight, etc.

By deter I mean "make things harder for" not "kill". Yes I know turrets suck against almost everything, but they do make life more difficult when used properly.
